Shonen Jump is known for producing some of the greatest battle manga of all-time. However, once in a blue moon, a series like Death Note comes along and takes the spotlight for a period of time.

Death Note is critically acclaimed to be one of the greatest manga of all-time, and for good reason too. From a scale of 1-10, I'd rate Death Note at an 8.7/10, but Death Note's run is over. This leads people to ask the question, is there another series like Death Note?

Yes, there is. As you can see by the title of this post, I am talking about The Promised Neverland.

The Promised Neverland is the story of a girl named Emma growing up in an orphanage. She's the most outgoing and happiest person in said orphanage until one day... She discovers the truth of the orphanage. Now, with the help of her adoptive siblings Ray and Norman, she plans to have every child within the orphanage escape before it's their time to leave.

This series has only been out for a year and is already in my top 10 favorite manga of all-time! That says a lot considering that I've watched and read A LOT of anime and manga.  What's so good about it? Well, the art style is wonderful and fresh. The plot seems basic until you realize that everything that has been shown so far is not what they seem.

I've honestly never seen a series quite like this before. With only 50+ chapters, it is reaching Death Note levels of greatness and could possibly even exceed Death Note.

As for its rating in Shonen Jump, it usually comes in second or third behind One Piece (the most sold manga of all-time/third most sold comic series of all-time) and My Hero Academia (the next great Shonen manga). That's pretty good company to be in for just a year.

I'd personally rate it at an 8.67/10 as of right now, but if it keeps going like this, it'll be a 9/10 in no time!

I'd like to recommend this series to 5 people that I think might enjoy it!
