"We need to pay this bill soon, its a red letter now"
"I'll get right on it"
"Will you though? You didnt last time and look what happened"
"Dont start Liv. Dont start that spoilt brat routine again"
"I just want to get out of that trailer, its too small for us now" Olivia sighed as she sat in the waiting room with Lori "Olivia, you are being highschool Olivia again"Lori teased "Making it all about you again" she added playfully nudging her friend. Today Lori was at the doctors, she hadnt told Rick but she was pregnant and was getting it confirmed by a professional. She asked Olivia to tag along but was beginning to regret it. "Sorry, Its just you and Rick have a house, you now have a baby, We should have that now, We've been married three years" she sighed still making it about her.
The sad truth was Olivia was ridicullously jealous. Lori had everything she wanted, the sweet house with the white picket fence and now a baby, and once the doctor confirmed Lori was in fact pregnant Olivia felt it burn up inside of her and she found it very hard to swallow. "I cant believe there are babies in our group now" Olivia faked a smile at the way they were all growing up and being 'responsible'. "Well not exactly Andrea beat me to that a few years ago" Lori reminded her "Shit, yea, I cant believe little Amy is coming up three!" Olivia remarked "She looks like her father doesnt she?" Olivia added and Lori nodded "poor thing" she joked making the pair laugh " I wonder what you'll have" Olivia wondered as they walked back to the parking lot.
It was really hard for Olivia to continue to fake happiness, it bothered her because she was happy for her friend but it couldnt of been further from what was happening in her life right now.
Olivia made her excuses and left Lori's to head home, she knew it would be really hard to fake anything when she saw Rick's reaction to the news.
Walking into her trailer she sighed, this place was once their own little show home, it was their sanctuary, but now it was just a stop gap between work. They slept in at that was all that they did. Some nights they wouldnt wake the other by coming into bed they would just sleep, wake, work and repeat. It was bringing her down.
Even worse now Olivia was in a new job, not as many hours and not as good tips. She enjoyed it there seeing as her boss was female and not a letch but she missed the money so much and looking at the pile of bills they had stacking up she needed something and fast. Opening her jar of savings she saw how dwindled they were, ever since leaving work with Jeff she had to dip into them every now and then for food and bills. Daryl wasn't earning much at the garage with all the bills he had to pay to keep the place open it was becoming a never ending cycle.
Her life now was a world away from her life four years ago and Olivia was beginning to miss it and that thought sickened her.
She was surprised and pleased to see Daryl come home early but judging by his face she realised he was in a mood. "What you doing?" he grunted as he opened the cupboards looking for something to eat "I havent gone shopping yet" she sighed as she slumped her face in her palm "Why not?" he snapped in response but realised by her face it wasnt the time to snap. "This is why" she sighed sliding the pile of envelopes his way. He rubbed his hands over his face making it dirtier than before "Yea I've been meaning to look at them" he weakly responded "Well our TV is being cut off from Wednesday" Olivia added, still slumped in her hand, she had no energy for this and judging by his reaction he didnt either. "Not as if we watch it anyway" he added "Can we not borrow money from Merle or something? Just until we get back on our feet?" She suggested, it wasnt the perfect solution but it was a solution and Merle would not want to see them two struggling. "Well it doesnt help you cant get a better job" Daryl spoke irritated and Olivia lost it "How the fuck can I get a better job? I have no skills! No one will hire a highschool leaver with waitressing experience apart from other waitress jobs!" She bitterly replied "Ive given up my college fund to fund this place! So dont give me shit for trying" she added storming off to their bedroom, slamming the door so hard that it knocked over a picture frame on her bedside table.
"Can I come in?" Daryl asked after clearing his throat from the other side. "Mmm" she grunted in reply, she lay on the bed with her hands across her face fed up. She had no energy for the same fall out nearly every day. "Im sorry for that" he apologised, Olivia scooted over so he could lay next to her "We keep fighting Daryl" She whispered feeling her eyes begin to well up so wiped them to stop, Daryl didnt respond but she knew he was listening "Its what married people do" Olivia turned to face him at that reply, to her it was stupid. "Not like this, and not this soon" she stroped at him "The first years of marriage are the hardest" he added breathing out loud. "Where the hell did you read that? one of my magazines?" she asked sarcastically.
Daryl didnt dignify that with a response. "Lori is pregnant" Olivia revealed and Daryl sat up looking proud "That's awesome" he grinned, Olivia couldnt. "They have everything we should have. A house, and a baby" She really couldnt help her attitude "Is that what you want? a baby?" he asked nervous, she shook her head quickly "No, its just we got married first, so we should get the house first, we should have the baby first too" She whined "Why havent we moved out of this place? Its so small now I hate it" she spat, Daryl looked like he wanted to agree "With what money darling?" he reminded her of their situation making Olivia roll her eyes "You promised me we would be in here temporarily and nearly three and a half years later we are still here!" She knew she sounded bratty but she had enough of a pokey sized bathroom where the shower only knew blistering hot or icey cold and where their bed was so old it dipped in the middle forcing the couple close to one another even when they didnt want to be close, especially after a fight. "See this is where you are bratty Liv" Daryl moaned shaking his head in disbelief at her "We cant all fucking live in palaces you know!" He bitterly spoke, he was starting to lose his patience with her "Im not asking to live in a fucking palace! Im asking to live in a house like normal couples do!We had the money to do it once and you worked so much I never saw you to ask you, you never wanna be home and I wouldnt mind but this is our home, and this is where I have to sit and wait for you to come home in good or bad mood." She just as bitterly replied. "Well if it wasnt for this place you'd have no fucking home!" he yelled tossing his mug from that morning across the room smashing it against their closet.
Olivia looked at him, the anger over his face washed away and guilt began to show, he knew what he said was wrong but Olivia didnt care. He said it regardless. Without a second glance she grabbed her keys and left.
