Love Bites

Chapter 3

All morning I helped decorate the gym with the 50s' theme. Then I spent the rest of the day getting ready. I curled my hair and pinned it back. After putting the finishing touches on my makeup, I heard a knock on the door. I straightened my poodle skirt before getting the door. I opened the door to see Bonnie, Elena, and their dates.

"Hey!" I smiled.

"That poodle skirt looks gorgeous on you." Elena smiled.

"Like you're actually from the fifties." Stefan agreed.

"Not everyone's as old as you." I teased. "You probably had that outfit in the back of your closet, just waiting to pull it out again."

Stefan rolled his eyes but laughed none the less.

We all piled into the car and drove to the dance. After we finally made it, we all went different directions with the couples making their way to the dance floor. And that's when I noticed the music, it was way too slow.

Sighing in annoyance, I walked up to the DJ and said, "Will you pick up the tempo, this is a dance, not a funeral."

As I turned around I heard a familiar British accent laugh, "So demanding."

"Klaus!" I exclaimed surprised.

"Ah, so you do remember me," Klaus smirked, clearly pleased.

I rolled my eyes. "What are you doing here?"

"Oh, just keeping my brother in check."

I slightly nodded.

After a moment of awkward silence, Klaus said, "So, care for a dance?"

"Um," as I was about to come up with an excuse not to, I noticed Matt walk in, I looked at Klaus and answered "Sure."

A huge smirk appeared across Klaus's face and he offered me his arm. As we walked onto the dance floor a slow song came on. I placed my hands on his shoulders and we started to dance. I was surprised, he was actually a really good dancer.

Klaus, clearly seeing my reaction, asked "What? Are you surprised by my dancing, love?"

"Actually, yes."

"You're quite the dancer yourself." He said after a slight pause.

"Well, I've had training. I happen to be Miss. Mystic Falls." I said trying not to brag too much.

"I know." He grinned and pulled me closer.

After the song was over I left Klaus and went to the snack bar.

                         *** Klaus's POV***   

As I was watching her walk away from me Kol walked up from behind me.

"She looks like a tasty little thing," Kol said.

"Say another word and I'll tear out your liver," I said.

As I continued to watch her I blurted out "Isn't she stunning?"

"She certainly looks good walking away from you."

"Is that a challenge I hear?"

"Maybe."

"Challenge accepted," I said walking toward Caroline.

And as I was approaching her, I noticed a blonde bloke talking to Caroline.

"Is this the jerk that broke your heart?" I asked, coming to stand next to them.

"Klaus! What are you-"

"I suggest you leave, mate. I think you've caused enough trouble in her life." I said, turning to Matt.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" Matt asked.

I laughed. "The name's Klaus Michealson." I bared my teeth. "I can tear out your throat. So I'll say it one more time since you're obviously the slow type. Leave, now."

Matt obediently turned around and left.

"Klaus! You can't just go around compelling people! And since when are you a vampire?"

"Oh, I've been around for quite some time, love."

"How long is quite some time?"

I winked. "Wouldn't you like to know."

She rolled her eyes. Then suddenly Kol walked up and said, "So brother, are you gonna introduce me?"

Annoyed I said, " And why would I want to do that?"

With a slight glare, he turned to Caroline and said, "I'm Kol, the good looking one."

"Oh please." I scoffed.

And before I could mock Kol even more, Elena Gilbert came over.

                     *** Caroline's POV ***

"Can I talk to you for a second." Elena said grabbing my arm.

We walked away from Klaus and Kol, and Elena said sternly," Why are you talking to Klaus?"

"How do you know Klaus?" I asked.

"It's a long story, but you have to promise me to stay away from him."

"I'm not going to stay away from him unless you tell me why." I said starting to get annoyed.

"I can't."

"Then I guess I'll just have to go ask Klaus why you don't want me to spend time with him." I said starting to walk toward Klaus.

"Okay, Okay, I'll tell you, just not here."Elena said with a sigh.

After about an hour we left the dance and went to Elena's house. She told me everything about the sun and moon curse. She told me how Klaus was planning on breaking it and how she got sacrificed, then Bonnie brought her back with the help of Elena's uncle. And how Klaus killed her aunt Jenna. She also told me that Klaus was an original vampire hybrid and all of the lives he's taken. And that's when I realized what a monster Klaus was.
