Flashback to a few months ago...
"Karylle ko, alam mo ba kung gaano kita kamahal?" tanong ni Vice sa kanya habang hinahaplos ang pisngi nya.
"Lasing ka, itulog mo na lang yan." sabi ni Karylle pilit ipinipikit ang mata ni Vice.
"Lasing man ako, totoo naman lahat ng sasabihin ko." sabi ni Vice na pilit kinuha yung kamay ni Karylle at hinalikan ito.
"Go on, sabihin mo na para makatulog na tayo." sabi ni Karylle na natawa na lang sa sleepy eyes ni Vice na pilit pa ring pinipigilan ang antok.
"You're the best thing that's ever happened to me." sabi ni Vice at ngumiti sincerely.
For a second there, Karylle didn't see any signs of him being drunk dahil sa pagkatitig nito sa kanya.
"Thank you for being my family. Salamat, salamat, salamat, salamat at salamat." sabi ni Vice and with each thank you, he placed a kiss sa labi ni Karylle.
"Hindi ko map-promise na hindi kita masasaktan, tao lang naman ako eh..." sabi ni Vice na hinaplos ulit ang pisngi ni Karylle.
"Ako rin naman, love." sagot ni Karylle at ngumiti.
"Pero I promise na hinding hindi kita iiwan." sabi ni Vice na tinitigan ulit si Karylle, "Mahal kita eh."
Karylle nodded and leaned forward to kiss him softly on the lips.
"Mahal din kita. Matulog ka na." sabi ni Karylle while as she giggled and piningot sa tenga ni Vice.

Present time
"Dr Tatlonghari, we have an incoming trauma patient in Bay E!" sigaw ng isa sa mga nurses after putting down the phone.
"Be there in a sec!" sigaw naman ni Karylle after taking off her gloves dahil kakatapos lang nya mag tahi ng sugat sa isa sa mga emergency patients niya ngayong gabi.
Two hours into her third night shift ay halos nakaka sampung pasyente na sya. Nag aalala naman ang mga katrabaho nya dahil hindi pa ito nag b-break kahit isang minuto man lang. Sya kasi ang in-charge of the E.R. tonight, kaya naman pinanindigan naman nito ang trabaho by accepting all patients without breaks.
Karylle was washing her hands when Anne came back from X-Ray with her patient na another road traffic accident who needed a chest x-ray of his torso.
"Take him back to Bay D, I'll be there in a minute." sabi ni Anne sa porter at nurse na kasama nya.
She made her way to Karylle and made the other doctor jump by the way she hit her arm.
"Uso ang pahinga, girl." sabi ni Anne dito na naka-frown sa ginagawang pag o-overwork ni Karylle sa sarili nito.
"I'm fine, Dr Curtis." sabi ni Karylle who smiled fakely at Anne bago nag rush papunta sa Bay E with her new patient.
Anne turned to the nurse in charge and raised her brow at her, the nurse in charge just shrugged. Napa-sigh na lang silang dalawa ng sabay ng makita kung gaano ka-demanding na naman ang new patient na to. Karylle was already doing CPR on the man as soon as he arrived.
Kaye also walked in the E.R. dahil sya ang on-call resident for tonight's shift. Part of her duty was to mainly observe and let her juniors do all the work.
"Curtis, nasaan si Tatlonghari?"
"Working." sabi ni Anne na tinuro si Karylle sa Bay E bago bumalik sa sarili nyang pasyente.
