Prologue
"What the hell are you doing?" a boy asked forcefully.
"What does it look like? Saving all our asses!" the girl sneered, looking over at his pale skin, so like her own.
"You have the rest of eternity to live and you're throwing it away on this?"
"I don't have the rest of eternity to live! I have the rest of eternity to be dead, thanks for that by the way."
"I didn't think you would mind!"
"Well, I do," the girl said quietly, "This thing is going to kill us all, not just the humans, if someone doesn't fight it. Let me do it."
"Fine!" he spat.
