Chapter 14: Better Angels

Chapter 14

It had been three days now, the headache was a little lesser than normal, and the fever had dropped

I was thankful, for quite a number of reasons

1) Noticing Itachi's gaze on me all the while made me blush, why? I don't know

2) I felt useless, or like a burden to everyone, they all somehow expressed a feeling of concern that drove me insane sometimes

3) Tobi came to visit me all the time, and annoyed me so much that I could fling the next bowl of ramen Itachi gets me, at him 

4) I could finally eat by myself 

But you have to admit, he's better company than any of them, at least, better than Itachi or Deidara or even Sasori

They just made her nervous somehow, her heart rate rose higher around them, she didn't like it, not one bit

And apparently, Tobi found his cat, he calls her Tobi The Second now, for some absurd reason

He sat across from me, playing with the completely white cat, it purred loudly and he tickled him lovingly, but it scratched his arm, making him jump 

I laughed, watching him put the cat down onto the floor, it looked annoyed for some reason 

He stared at me for quite some time, through his orange mask, I wondered what he looked like beneath that mask

"What is it?" I asked after a few minutes of his staring 

He looked startled and scratched his neck, in embarrassment and looked up at me once again 

"Tobi made Yuki laugh!" He said, looking for the cat, avoiding her gaze

I felt touched, it had been days since I felt a little ecstatic, but my heart warmed up to him right there, he looked too innocent, even with the mask sheilding his face

He still avoided my gaze, it made me happy that at least someone had cared, about my happiness

I engulfed him in a hug, right from my bed 

He was startled, once again, not knowing what to do, almost as if he were panicking

But he later put his arms around her as well 

"Thank you" I said, quietly, trying to resist not to pull his mask away and take a look at his face

The day had gone by slowly, Tobi didn't come to visit again, Pain was probably yelling at him because of Tobi The Second

Itachi made sure I had enough rest, so I didn't faint over again

Even though I reminded him that I could walk fairly well now, he wouldn't hear the end of it, he stuck to his decision and I pouted about it

So every now and then I snuck out of the room, once he left

Until...

"Aren't you supposed to be in bed? un" Deidara asked, as he passed by, catching me leaving the room

I froze "Uhm, no" I said, not sure what to reply back 

He gave me a quizzical brow "Pretty sure you heard Itachi well and clear?" I was surprised we were talking so normally like this, so very casually

"Please let me go? I'm tired of staying in there" I pleaded 

"And have my bones picked clean by Itachi? yeah, sure, no" He said, his gaze was stony

"Please?" I begged "I'll be back before he notices" 

"Nope, get back in there, you need your rest" He said, guiding me back in

"I don't want to" I said, stubbornly "I'm sick and tired of being in here, I'm being a nuisance to everyone"

Deidara grabbed my wrist, his grip felt like iron, and dragged me back to the bed, I fought him back, trying as hard as I could

And pushed me back into the bed, pushed because I was being an annoying bitch, not listening to him and acting like a kid

He gave a loud grunt, as he battled me, pushing me down and I pushing him up and away

We were in almost a grapple, pushing each other, Deidara finally over-powered me, pushing me down, hands pinned down to the bed

We were both breathless, heaving slowly, glaring at each other

"Will you stop now?" Deidara asked, looking annoyed 

"Shut up, you're not the boss of me, you don't tell me what to do" 

He grimaced

"I really don't know what to do with you" He gave a loud sigh 

I blushed instantly, feeling his breath on my skin 

He looked surprised, and started to panic, thinking it was the fever acting up 

"Is the fever getting higher? are you alright? do you need something?" He asked, panicking

We were way too close this time, I avoided his gaze, looking flustered 

Until he realized the situation, he didn't move away just then though, I stared at him, he looked flustered, not wanting to be there right then 

"I-I'm fine, you can move off now" I said, in a hoarse voice "I'm--

But in mid-sentence, I felt him lean down, his lips on mine
