[3rd Person Pov.]

(Y/N) stayed in her normal spot. It was her second year at Hogwarts. Hogwarts was a school for witches and wizards and she was accepted because her mother and father possess witch and wizard blood. She stayed underneath her tree. The tree was called a Whomping Willow. Though it shone violence towards other students, it gave her kindness and let her sit beneath its branches. Once in a while, it let a leaf float down and let it bookmark her page for her. It was (Y/N)'s only friend. Of course, the staff of Hogwarts were baffled over the connection between the rare tree and the girl, but they let her be.

She wanted to make friends her whole life, but she never knew if it would be healthy for her grades and for her. She sat beneath the tree after school with a book her mother had sent her. It was titled The Thickety: A Path Begins. Though the writer was foolish to write about such things like a witch needing a book to do magic or a witch being swallowed by her spellbook after she cast the last spell, it was a nice book to read.

"Hello," she heard a voice above her. "I always see you alone and I thought that I would talk to you." She looked up to see a boy with black hair and brilliant green eyes that were slightly blurred by the glass pieces in the rims of his round glasses. A lighting bolt shaped scar rest on his forehead. She looked at the Gryffindor crest pin on his chest. She panicked and shielded her face with her book, the white cover and navy blue spine facing him. "Please don't hurt me!"

She expected something she couldn't even imagine. When she realized that it wasn't happening, she looked up to see a confused face. "What are you talking about?" the boy asked.

"W-Well... I'm a Slytherin... Draco always tells me how I should be being rotten towards Gryffindors so they you guys won't bully me and stuff," (Y/N) explained. The boy smiled and chuckled. "Come on, it's okay. Draco is full of just lies. They're so funny that I'm surprised he isn't a comedian yet." (Y/N) couldn't help but smile and laugh softly to herself. She opened her book again and she touched the leaf the Whomping Willow had given her. She looked up to see that it wasn't doing anything to the boy who had approached her.

"You really like this tree, huh?" he asked.

"Well, of course. It's like a friend to me."

"To be honest, I thought it would attack me if I came here to talk to you. You probably already know this, but I crashed into it with a flying car." He rubbed the back of his neck and (Y/N) turned to him. "You're Harry Potter?"

He shrugged. "The one and only!" he said sarcastically. This was bad. Really bad. She gathered the three books she had brought and stood up. "I... I have to go" was all she said before she said her goodbye to the Whomping Willow and ran off. Harry stood there and watched as (Y/N) ran across the field and into the Hogwarts castle. He kicked the ground and asked himself,"Did I say something wrong?" The tree pat him on the shoulder with a rather heavy leaf.

Harry walked from the tree to see Ron and Hermione waiting for him on a bench. Ron stood up excitedly and asked,"How did it go? What did she say?"

"She's a Slytherin.  She doesn't like talking to people because she's affraid because Malfoy told her that if she wasn't mean to us we'll walk all over her. She told me that the willow is like her friend and it's nice to her," Harry told them. "But when she found out my name she ran away. I didn't even get her name."

Ron ran his fingers through his red hair and said,"Yeah. We saw her running inside."

"I bet she's just nervous. She doesn't talk to anyone so it must be her first time in a while," Hermione replied.

Harry couldn't help but wonder why she wiuld just run away like that. He had never met anyone like that except Ginny.

The next day, (Y/N) was slipping between students to get to her next class. She had Defense Aginst the Dark Arts with Professor Lockheart next. She had her hand resting on her dark (F/C) bookbag and she had three books in her arm that she usually used to cover her face. She let her (H/C) hair down to help cover her face as well. She slid into her seat and read The Thickety while the other students came in. She couldn't help but notice a pair of green eyes from the corner of her eye. They were looking right at her.
