baah - the black sheep who sleep so sound

but bleat  loud against the guardian hound

dreaming of care-free hugs of love

feather pillows of  synthetic dove

sheltered by the hawks they curse

from easy chairs platitudes disperse

in the lap of freedom, keeping warm

while men-at-arms,  keep rest from harm

 harmful is the hornet's nest

    ever-a-buzz with foul unrest

tolerance for an intolerant creed

such hypocrisy left to breed

invasive these weeds choke the land

taking every liberty with a free hand

In his Notes on Nationalism,George Orwell wrote that pacifists ignore the fact that

''Those who 'abjure' violence can only do so because others are committing violence on their behalf.''

and he discerns:

''I think one must engage in politics — using the word in a wide sense — and that one must have preferences: that is, one must recognise that some causes are objectively better than others, even if they are advanced by equally bad means.''
