Danily Family~ Baby Number 2

45- Overdue

"Come on Thomas, bed time," Emily said drying her hands on the tea towel.

"Already?" He asked looking up from the toy cars.

"Do you want to have a quick bath?" She asked putting the plates away in the draw.

"Yay!" He said standing up and running up the stairs.

"I'm going to get you!" She smiled taking off after him.

"Be careful Em," Daniel said from the couch.

"I'm coming to get you," she called again climbing the stairs.

"Mummy no!" He giggled.

"Yes, you better be quick!"

"Mummyyyy!" He squealed running into the bathroom.

"I've got you now," she said following him in.

"Bathy time!" He giggled as she picked him up.

"Go and take of your clothes while I run the bath," she said putting him down and letting him run off into his bedroom.

She knelt down onto the tiles and turned the tap as the hot water came flowing out.

"Thomas!" She called out.

"Yes mummy," he giggled running into the bathroom.

"Come here," she said grabbing him around the waist.

"Mummy!" he said grabbing her face.

"Come on, hope in the bath," she said picking him up and sitting him down in the warm water.

"Where is my boat?" He asked looking around.

"It's in the cupboard, do you want it?" She asked reaching into the vanity under the sink.

"Yes please," he said as she pulled it out.

"Here."

He took it and dunked it in the water happily.

"You have kinder tomorrow," she said tipping the water over his hair.

"But I want to stay here with you."

"On Wednesday you can stay here with me," she smiled.

"Okay."

"Stand up for me," she said covering the face cloth with soap.

He stood and she ran it over his body lathering it with soap.

"Alright, wash it off and then it's time for bed," she said grabbing his towel off the rail.

He sat down and covered his body with water before standing up. She wrapped the towel around him and picked him up putting him onto the bath mat.

"It's cold," he shivered as she dried off his body.

"I know, so lets go get some clothes and get you into bed," she smiling picking him up and carrying him into the bedroom.

"Is it winter time yet?

"In a month," she said. "It's going to snow soon."

"Can we build snowmen?"

"Of course we can."

"Yay."

She put on his pyjamas and tucked him under the covers.

"Good night darling," she whispered kissing his forehead.

"I love you mummy."

"I love you too baby, I'll see you in the morning."

She stood up and left the room, leaving the door slightly ajar.

"Daniel," she said appearing at the top of the stairs. "I'm going to bed."

"I'll come with you," he said turning off the tv and standing up.

"You don't have too," she smiled.

"I want to," he replied turning out the light and climbing the stairs to where she was standing.

"I love you," she whispered pressing her lips to his.

"I love you too," he replied.

They walked into the bedroom and Daniel slipped off his clothes and slid into the bed.

"I'm just going to the toilet," she said walking into the ensuite.

Daniel grabbed a magazine off the bedside table and started to read. He looked up as the toilet flushed and Emily walked out. He looked down momentarily.

"Daniel," Emily breathed.

He looked up again and she had stopped in the centre of the room; had both hands on her stomach.

"Em what's wrong?" He asked putting the magazine down.

"I-I think that was a contraction," she said looking over at him.

"Are you okay?" He said standing up quickly and walking over to her; taking her hand.

"I'm fine, it's gone now," she whispered.

"Do we need to go to the hospital?"

"No, I'm fine, it was just a little twinge of pain."

"Come and lay down," he said leading her over to the bed where she sat down.

"Em are you sure you're okay?"

"Daniel I'm fine, it's gone now and it was only little, I might be mistaken," she said looking up at him.

"Alright, so what do we do now?"

"II'm going to try and sleep, and if I keep feeling them then we start to time them," she said laying back against the pillow.

"Wake me up if you need to okay," he said sliding in to bed next to her.

"Daniel I'm going to be fine for a while now," she smiled laying her head on his chest.

"I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too."
