CHAPTER TWENTY

When Mr and Mrs Graham walked out of the doctors office after seeing their son, Deni approached them.
"Is he okay?"
She asked noticing Mrs. Graham was in tears.
"He has Kidney disease and needs a transplant"
"We're going to take a few tests to see if we can help" Mrs. Graham said.
"Oh no this is bad"
"Can I see him?"
"Sure" Mrs Graham took her hand and led her to Sam's room. When the door opened he turned his head towards the door and smiled. Seeing all those tubes connected to him broke Deni's heart and a tear escaped her eye as she smiled and walked towards him.
"I'll leave you two"
"Thanks Mom"
"Are you okay?" Sam asked.
"Seriously Sam, I'm not the one on a hospital bed"
"I know right, it totally sucks"
"Does it hurt?"
"No" He said with a smile.
"Are you lying?"
Deni realized he was taking short breaths. He looked weak and tired.
"What did they say?" He asked.
"You need a transplant"
"What transplant?"
"Kidney"
She said and began to cry.
"Come on, its not like I'm going to die"
"You have no idea how it feels like standing here and watching you there on that bed"
"Exactly how I felt when you were hospitalized" He smiled.
"Its not funny Sam"
"Hey, I'll be okay just stay strong okay" He took her hand and she nodded.
"I'll try"
"That’s my girl' He smiled.

Selasi flew to London with Neil as soon as she heard, she took the tests too but unfortunately none of them were a match.
"Can i?" Deni had asked.
"Deni I know you what to help but this is a major decision, you should think about it, talk to your family….."
"Its my decision to make and I want to do this, if I can help him live, why shouldn’t I, and there's no time to think, I'll take whatever tests"
"Okay" The doctor said.
They told her about the risks involved and did a series of tests.
On the day of the surgery, She walked into Sam's room before the surgery he was asleep. She held his hand and she prayed;
"God, I know I don't talk to you a lot but I do know that Sam does and he loves you so much, he has a purpose and he does a lot for you and for people, if  a life must be taken please don't take his, but if I am to give him a part of me, I do so willingly……I may not see him again, but you know that I love him with all my heart……and now I wish I told him that, I wish you could hear me Sam…." She said. A nurse walked in with the doctor.
"Miss Seymour, its time"
"Okay" She watched as they wheeled him out. They got her ready too and before she went in, Selasi and the Grahams walked to her, they were all in tears.
"Thank you"
"No, thank you all, and if I don't make it, tell my mom I love her, okay"
"You will make it" Mr. Graham said, holding firmly unto her hand. She smiled and then she was wheeled away too, in the theatre, she lay next to Sam who was already unconscious.
She turned to look at him and she kept looking as she was given an anesthetic to put her to sleep. Meanwhile the Grahams waited in the chapel, praying quietly in their hearts for their son and brother, and for the kind donor….
