he had difficulties breathing.
this wasn't a good sign.
but he could hear.
he could hear how desperate phil was on saving him. he could hear how phil was crying because of him. he could hear how phil was mumbling 'it was okay' even though it wasn't. he could hear how phil was breathing so heavily. he could hear how phil's footsteps became heavier and heavier every step but he doesn't stop.
mostly, he heard phil and phil only.
phil was what kept him holding on.
and he was afraid that he couldn't keep on holding any longer.
somehow, when you held on for too long, you just have to let go.
