Chapter II
I ran faster than I had in my life, but I could still hear the heavy breathing of the wolf behind me. I mentally cursed my wolf for not coming out yet. I was already 17 years old, but I had still not shifted. The average wolf shifts at 16. My mom called me a "late bloomer," but the rest of pack considered me to be the runt.My mom. What if she's torn apart like the other wolves I saw?
My heart nearly shattered at the thought.
'Alive or dead, this is what she will want me to do,' I thought; pushing myself to run faster.
After a few minutes, I heard the panting of the rogue receeding, and it gradually became silence.
I was still too scared to stop. I kept running. My feet felt like they would fly off at any second, but I just pushed myself harder. It soon became dark.
I heard a growl to my left. I gasped and stopped. I looked, and saw a sandy brown wolf glaring at me.
