“You’re clean!”

I let out a yelp for joy and danced around the track, receiving odd looks from my teammates.

“Now get practicing, we don’t have all damn day.”

“Sir yes sir” I called out, sprinting over to the hurdles.

“What was that all about?” Trent asked, as we got into line.

“I’m clean.”

“You’re clean?”

“My drug test came back negative.”

“As opposed to…?”

“The first one.”

Trent fell silent. “What?”

“It’s not what you think. I don’t do drugs. My diabetes just messes with drug testing results.”

“You have diabetes?”

I raised my eyebrows at him. “You knew that.”

“No, no I didn’t.”

I racked my brain, but I drew a blank. “Huh, guess it never came up.”

“Yeah, that’s something that should’ve come up!”

“Well why?”

“Because it’s good information to know. What if you dropped-” He was cut-off because it was his turn to jump. He flew through the hurdles, glaring at me as he jogged back to the end of the line.

I blew through the hurdles and joined him in the back of the line.

“What if you dropped to the floor? I wouldn’t have a clue what to do.”

“You call for Coach Daniels and let him handle it.”

“He knows?”

“Of course. Dude, I announced it at a press conference.”

“I don’t stalk you.”

“You don’t watch track Worlds? Really?”

“Think about it Mason, do you watch Worlds?”

“It hasn’t come on yet this year. But when it does, yeah I will.”

“Whatever. All I’m sayin dude is that’s just good information to know. I mean, we’ve known each other for almost a year now, and it never came up?” He slapped me upside the head.

“Asshole,” I muttered, shaking my head.

“Don’t start with me,” he grumbled in response.

 ~*~

“Roger,” I called, as I headed towards Amy’s dorm.

“Hey,” he called, jogging over to me. “I was searching for you everywhere.”

“Yeah, same here. Do you have it?”

“It’s back in my dorm. I’ll drop it by tonight.”

“I don’t think I’ll be in my dorm tonight. What’s the earliest you can come by in the morning?”

“I can be there at 8.”

I shook my head. “That’s no good, I’ll be at track. Drop by at 9:30, can you do that?”

“Yeah, sure.”

“Thanks.”

“No problem.” He flashed me a smile before heading off.
