Escaping the Ruins

I sat at the door in the middle of the woods, remembering what the voice on the other side had told me...

~flashback~

The female voice rang through, sounding disturbed "If a human were to pass through this door... promise me... you'd protect them... will you not?". I sighed, "I'm not one for making promises but... I will." I replied. It was suddenly silent again

~present~

I worked on setting up a camera, getting it set right into the bush just outside of the door. I could at least monitor it that way. I waited for a while, eventually having my brother show up. "BROTHER... YOU LOOK DOWN. HAVE YOU HAD YOUR NAP?". I only smiled "... BROTHER? SHOULDN'T YOU BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR A HUMAN?" he said once again. I shrugged "why do you ask? Got a bone to pick with them". I laugh a little at my own joke while my brother just storms off. I get up and go to my station, keeping an eye on the monitor from my phone but slowly, grow tired. I eventually fall asleep

I followed Toriel to her home, where there she fed and even gave me a room. But I knew better. I didn't belong here. This wasn't my home. I awoke from a small nap to find a butterscotch-cinnamon pie slice on the floor. I smiled and put it with the tons of monster candy before walking out and hearing Toriel humming. "uhm... Toriel?" I say. She looks up at me from the book she's reading. "yes my child?". "... how do I get home?". Her face struck with depression, fear... and something else I couldn't describe "u-uhm would you l-like to hear an interesting snail fact?". "how do I get out of the ruins Toriel?". She freezes and put her book away. "there is something I must take care of..." she says before rushing out of the room. I go after her, not wanting to be left alone. Toriel went down the steps from before and got halfway through the first hallway before stopping. "... you wish to go home, do you not? At the end of this tunnel lies the end of the RUINS. I'm going to destroy it... do not follow me" she said. She continued walking, and I followed " b-but Toriel. If you destroy it, how will I get home?" I asked her. She froze once again " do not follow me child... return upstairs immediately" she started walking again. I followed her to a large set of doors. She paused before them and looked back at me. " prove to me..." " what?" I replied, confused on what she meant. " prove to me you can survive". Suddenly, the buttons and my soul appeared again. I pressed act. More buttons appeared. "check" "talk" "threat". I froze for a second but pressed talk. " I don't want to fight you!" I said. Toriel started attacking with bullets. I ran into them, getting hurt in the process. My hp dropped to 1/20 and suddenly, she stopped. " you.. want to return home so badly?... I wont stop you but.. I have on request". " yes Toriel?" I asked, thinking maybe her request was to come back and visit her. " do not return. For my sake.. please" she said before turning and leaving. I watched her leave, feeling sad, but continued through the doors and down a long hallway, my footsteps echoing off the walls and all around me. I felt the temperature slowly drop but continued forward, being filled with DETERMINATION
