LEFT BEHIND LIFE
❀It was dark, very dark, almost pitch black, Derek could barely see anything and his feet remained in place as he tried looking around to see where he'd ended up, nothing but the echo of an owl hooting.
He'd found himself in the middle of the woods, where his trailer still remained empty, he'd forgotten all about his small home, but the bottle of scotch in his hand half empty seemed to weight him down to a tree.
Carelessly he whipped out his phone, it was buzzing again and his drunken self was sick of it, the annoying face of Addison popped up again and this time he answered it.
"What?" He rudely spat, intoxication makes you have no filter, and when he felt helpless, Derek was an angry drunk.
"I was just calling to make sure you're alright...haven't heard from you in days, its odd Derek. Where are you? I'll come get you."
"Don't bother, you won't even get here fast without a plane." He sighed like it was the most obvious thing.
"A plane? Derek where the hell are you, I'm worried." Her voice muffled from the phone.
"A boy..." he sniffled as tears pricked his blue eyes, he felt his emotions going crazy and went from angry to sad in a split second.
"A what?" Addison sounded worried.
"She has a boy." He muttered again.
"Who has a boy, Derek?"
"Meredith."
He heard a string of curse words fly through the phone, the sound of a knife hitting a cutting board was audible, and it made him jump, being alone in the woods with loud noises could make you delusional, especially if you were drunk.
"So that's it, Seattle, that's where you went?" She yelled.
"Of course." He sounded childish as he spoke.
"So Meredith has a kid? She's moved on Derek you should too." This conversation was makig Addison regret calling.
"No, no, that's not it." He whispered barely audible to her.
"What is it then?" She sounded extremely pissed off and he knew she was probably tapping her foot like a impatient mother.
"The boy..."
There was a long pause as Derek sighed.
"Hello?" She called through the phone.
"The boy, the baby, its mine."
Addison sighed through the phone, her own wave of emotions sliding in and out.
"Call me tomorrow Derek." She croaked before hanging up.
"Stupid phone." He threw it against a tree and watched in amusement as it crashed into three pieces.
He stood up and began walking to his car, the only thing he could find, he wouldn't be driving but he'd sure sleep in there so a bear wouldn't attack him.
