It was the end of the day, Meredith had long since given Bailey to her friends and was stood in front of Derek outside of his trailer, getting into a heated argument, it was the last thing she wanted to do when she was exhausted from work.
"It's not about you coming back!" She yelled, throwing her arms out in front of her, her face frowned deep.
"But it is! I came back Meredith." He muttered, his tone deepening by the second.
"You came back to what?! You're still married, and that hasn't changed, you won't allow it to!" Meredith felt tears prick her eyes with angry tears, it was how she felt, despite everything deep down she knew she still loved him.
Derek bit his lip hard enough to start bleeding, as he glared at the woman in front of him, how was he going to express his feelings. He was a man who didn't like to show many emotions, or talk about how he felt, but here in this moment with her, he felt vulnerable.
"I know I am, don't you get it! I've been suffering for the past year, I couldn't and can't take it anymore..." He trailed off, eyes glazing the horizon, his back turned to her.
Meredith walked right up to him, close enough to hear the heaviness of his breathing, the kind that tells a person hey want to cry, the heaviness wanting to be relieved, but the person holding it in won't allow it.
"Can't take what?" She whispered, looking him right in the eye, she realized he too was close to crying and exhausted from yelling.
It had been a pointless fight, Derek couldn't express how he felt and that made Meredith retaliate and become frustrated with him, asking him if he really did mean everything he said yesterday, or if he was just drunk.
She never got a reply.
Meredith rose her brows waiting for him to reply, placing her hands loosely on her hips and cocking her head to the left expectantly.
"I can't..." he whispered, a lone tear escaping his eye.
She had a feeling she knew what he was going to say, but didn't push him, he was almost to the point where he could talk again, his words being clouded over with emotion.
"I can't take being away from you any longer, Meredith I never stopped loving you."
Meredith stood shocked in place, speechless, how was she to respond to that? Did she still love him? Yes, but did she forgive him for leaving, she didn't know.
Derek sensed her hesitation and closed the space between them, locking his lips onto hers, the taste of her sweet chap stick on his lips, the loving sensation he felt radiating from it, it was a moment of pure innocences.
The kiss, was fragile and the people who held each side were unstable, if they were to fall, they'd definitely be broken all over again, but in this moment, it was pure peace, no words were needed as he lead her inside the trailer, laying her on the bed before showing her just how deeply he felt about her.
