this is me
a broken soul
that's always left to be
standing in the shadows
of everyone else
no one cares to take a second look
I disappear in the crowd
I'm invisible to them
even when I'm standing in the spotlight
no one seems to care
about the fact that I'm always there
to pick up the pieces
that's left behind
when someone broke them
when someone let them down
I'm the moon
everyone around me is the sun
and my family is the people on Earth
that didn't realize what I was worth
that I gave them the light
even in the darkest times
they closed their eyes
they looked away
they didn't realize that I was there for them
and I fell
I went down
like the moon isn't supposed to do
and they realized
what I helped them through
