MAINE STARED AT THE CARD she was holding. It accompanied the gorgeous rainbow roses assortment and a heart-shaped box of chocolates that was waiting for her on her desk as soon as she arrived Wednesday morning.
Let's meet. I'll pick you up at front after work today.
See you then.
That was all that was written on the small business card sized card that came with the flowers and chocolate. No written signature. Not even a greeting, basta short and direct to the point ang message.
MAINE: Is this a joke?
She sent a text to Ruru and set her phone aside. She looked at the flowers and chocolates one last time before picking them up and setting them on the cabinet behind her. In as much as she appreciate the gift, she has work to do and the chocolates were too damn tempting to resist and the roses' scent would drive her bonkers if she constantly inhales it.
Maine was in the process of replying to one of their contracted web designers when her cell phone dinged. She picked it up and looked at the sender.
RURU: Anong joke?
MAINE: Yung roses and chocolates.
She turned and took a quick pic of said gifts and sent it along with her message. A few seconds later Ruru replied.
RURU: Wow, sarap nung chocolates ah. Penge naman lol
MAINE: Hindi ba ikaw ang nagpadala nito?
RURU: No. Y would I? If I'm going 2 send chocolates as a way 2 thank sum1, kay Alden ko ipad2la yun kasi siya ang nag-handle ng ad campaign ko.
MAINE: So hindi nga ikaw yung nagpadala nitong mga ito?
RURU: What's the problem? Didn't u tell me na meron kang secret admirer?
MAINE: To be honest, akala ko ikaw or si Alden yun.
RURU: Wow, flattered naman ako & u thought of me as a potential secret admirer *evil grin*
MAINE: Che! Watch your fast inflating head, baka tumama sa isang matulis na something at biglang sumabog.
RURU: LOL. What made u assume na sa akin naman galing yang mga yan?
MAINE: Dahil hindi nga kami masyadong naguusap ngayon ni Alden, diba?
RURU: So? Malay mo, it's his way of making peace with you.
That gave Maine pause. Could Ruru be correct? Peace offering ni Alden yung flowers and chocolates? Eh paano naman yung offer niyang to pick her up after work? Bakit sa harap ng building siya pipickupin eh pwede naman silang mag-ride down sa parkade together.
