"Come on, I'm taking you somewhere else" I dragged him down the street.

"Is it another crumbling hotel?" he asked.

"No"

He frowned, making me laugh "It's better"

He smiled again.

We passed a liquor store and he went in and bought us drink, while I waited outside and quietly smoked, watching a pigeon pick at a sandwich that lay, beside the trash can, on the ground.

He exited and we held hands again and I dragged him to another one of my favourite places; the sea.

There were steps at the end of the town that led down to a small bay of sand and salty water. It wasn't much of a beach, but it was a nice patch of land.

Matty and I took a seat on the sand and cracked open two cans, quietly drinking and holding each other.

I like sitting in the silence with him. I also liked him and that never happened. I don't like people. Fuck, I barely like myself.

"Matty?"

"Yeah love?"

"I'm glad I know you"

I heard him chuckle "I'm glad I know you too babe"

We barely knew each other but it didn't matter. Nothing matters.
Well, one thing mattered. Him.
