"I don't know how you expect us to pay for this wedding if you can't find a job!" Jade exclaimed, falling back onto the couch, running her hands through her hair.

I sighed and took the seat beside her.

"It's okay. We'll be okay."

"Drew, you need to wake up! These things cost money, and there's no way we can afford it with a budget like ours! Hell, we can barely afford this apartment!"

I could see the tears forming as she worked herself up, obviously overwhelmed about our financial situation. I pulled her into a hug as she began to cry.

"We're going to be fine. I promise. The wedding doesn't have to be big and luxurious. That's not what it's about. It's about us finally starting our lives together, right?" I reminded her. She smiled and nodded.

"You're right. But we really do need to find you a job soon."

I held her hand and smiled.

"One step at a time, darling."
