"My lady, grant me this opportunity, with you, to dance!"
'But of course, fair master, I've got nothing to lose!'
"Pray tell, how your beauty, charms this fine, at first glance."
'You flatter me sire, it's not a thing that I had ever to choose.'
"But of course, your grace, like elegant silk!"
'Oh my dear! Your praise is too pleasant to the ear!'
"And your hair! like gold streaks, as flowy as milk."
'I do attend to the parlour, seventeen times a year.'
"And your smile, how mesmerising, like memories of prize."
'Do continue, this dance is surely too short.'
"Your etiquette, as clear as, the vast bright skies."
'Your style of lyrical praise, indeed, your very deemed forte.'
"I thank you, for accepting my request for the night."
'Oh not at all! it's I, who should be grateful for myself.'
"Let's dance again, another time, my most cherished sight."
'Your acquaintance will remain, on the toppest of the shelf.'
"I will be patient, and twiddle, my thumbs for the next ball."
'And I, will prepare a finer gown for the next time we meet.'
"I shall hope, there's no other man, in your gaze who'll grow tall."
'I hope not either, for my heart was stolen by your very first greet!'

I was inspired by the book 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen to write this poem. In her book, the characters attended many 'balls' and she described each scene very well. So I based this poem on two different characters who are attending a sophisticated ball in a sophisticated English setting.
