Interesting Question

Once in a generous but grand ball,
A sophisticated lady walked in the hall,
A handsome man approached her way,
She internally scoffed but looked astray.

The lady gently descended the stairs,
To find the man below, with the greatest of airs,
Curiosity influenced the male partner's features,
She continued to take her place among the chuckling creatures.

'May I have this dance?' Echoed a voice behind her,
She turned to gaze upon the eyes of the knowledgeable sir,
"What an interesting question!" She quite mockingly returned,
But the man just smiled, unmoved and unturned.

"I believe I have just rejected your proposal."
'Then you'll laugh when I place myself at your disposal.'
The lady cried, "Young man! To be sure, who are you?"
'I am but the one chosen, in your life, to see you through.'

'I am but one, who wants a yes to the interesting question,
One who is your utmost admirer, I give you my confession.'
The lady flattered at the man's sincerity, decided to do what's right,
Handed her palm to him immediately, and they both, danced all night.

To be honest, I was inspired by Jack and Rose from the movie Titanic to write this poem. Wonder if you can relate.
