if I cling your hand too tightly,
if I hold your heart too closely,
if I cherish your smile too deeply.
please forgive me
if I look at your eyes too longingly,
if I call you at night too desperately,
if I gift you my love too dangerously.
I have waited so long to hold you in my arms,
so please forgive me
when I'm scared you'll fly away
and leave me alone once again.
