Chapter 10

Katniss's POV

I hold onto Haymitch's body, clenching my hands around his tough arms.

"Haymitch?"

"Yes Sweetheart?"

"Will things ever get better?"

"I don't know honey, but want I can tell you is we will try our hardest to give you the best life ever."

"That's already an overstatement."

"Okay, think of it this way, a new beginning."

"What, A life with Peeta?"

"Yes, maybe.."

"Haymitch, that will never happen, I can't give him-"

"Think about it.. Do you love Peeta?"

"Yes-"

"That's all you need, you'll ғιи∂ ʏσʋя нɛαят."

"Find my heart?"

"Don't ask sweety, you'll figure it out."

I can't believe the once druken, unstable guy could grow up to be like my dad. I would love to call him dad. But I can't, Peeta is like his son. That's one reason why Peeta can't be mine. We are like brother and sister in a weird way. Of course I am an Everdeen and he's a Mellark but there's no way. He needs someone like Delly. Someone to give him a loving beautiful family. A large family like he wants. I don't want a family. I am too insane. I can't keep myself stable, let alone a crying baby. Or the pain I have already went into. The pain seeing my baby seeing the hunger games first hand. They can't live the torture I did. Who knows if they'd get put in, in some twisted way. Of course even if they weren't picked they'd learn about my horrid past. They'd probably be tortured by who knows what. I don't want to know. Peeta couldn't deal with more than me. He might just be pitying me in my sorrow.

"Figure it out!" I snap, clicking out of the depressing thoughts of my hopeless love life.

"Yes sweetheart."

"I can't!"

I pull away from his rough embrace and push threw the door. My black locks wiping my face as my nose begins to run, down my mouth, seeping through to my tonuge and tears damping my skin. Life shouldn't get rougher than this. Hopefully. Hopefully I'll . ғιи∂ мʏ нɛαят Or atleast find Peeta.
