You flew a far way across the river
It was your usual route,  but so much later.

As the sun dived, you realised this
and worry struck your yellow breast.
In the darkness of the moon-lit night
You must now come to a rest.

Is it the sun that shines in the distance?
No, says the moon,  its something unnatural.
A naturally inspired unnatural creation
that mocks my inability to shine like the sun.
It's where you shall take refuge, for your nature isn't dark, and I'm just a mere reflective spark.

Lights out kiskadee, your choir is miles away.
Around the bright florescent bulb is where you now must stay.
Peeping through the keyhole,
dwells more florescent things.
This is where I shall stop to rest my weary wings.

Hello, I sang to the creatures therein
I've come for a little shut-eye in your colourful cozy inn.
The youngest jumped up and screamed
And the mother held up her stick.
My life is now in jeopardy
For my chances of death grow thick.

Lights out poor little kiskadee,
the assault has now began
Stick-lashes have now hushed your plea
Like a victim in the presence of a gun.
There is no turning back now
The father and brother have joined in
Have they realised what they have done?
They have crippled you, Oh what a sin!

Lights out you poor little kiskadee
Cries the moon and stars that shone
They have killed thee and discarded thee
Your tale will forever be buried under the sun.
