Optimus Prime X Human Reader (Request)

I am so sorry that I took forever to do this but I have been busy with family and the new puppy we got. She's a handful for she's a VERY needy dog. An Australian Shepard needs constant love and affection as well as lots of play time so thats why I never had time because I get only so much time to myself and most of my one-shots take a day to create.

You felt empty. Your heart felt as if it was breaking into pieces from the pain expanding through your chest. You had been rejected by the only person you considered to be someone you cared dearly for.

Optimus frickin Prime.

You first had looked up to him and admired how he never seemed to give up even under pressure he stayed strong and stood up to anything blocking his path. You only saw him cry once and that was when one of his dearest friends was reported dead. Ratchet, the grouchy medic's decapitated helm was seen at the K.S.I. headquarters when Cade Yeager had snuck in. You were shocked to see the mech you known for keeping his emotions in-check, cry. You comforted him and as you were seated in the palm of his hand you realized that Optimus was broken. With his planet destroyed, the one he considered a brother attempting to kill him, and his own mentor betraying him... The ones he saw as family betrayed him leaving him broken and his spark shattered, even with Bumblebee he still was sad for the world before his optics was slowly crumbling and breaking apart.

You felt that he needed your help and comfort and so from then on you stayed with Optimus. Sleeping beside him to comfort him when would awake from a night terror that he said was indescribable and he never told you. You wished to know but the fear in his optics told you that he just needed your help. You would lay back down next to his helm and stroke his helm to soothe his sparks rapid beating until his venting became even and he went back into recharge with you cuddled up to him, enjoying the warmth and safety you felt so close to him.

His condition got better. Your comfort made his life better and made everything he dealt easier, but there was only one problem. 

He was falling in love with you. His face warmed whenever you smiled his way or laughed at something comical he said. He loved seeing your eyes sparkle when you were happy and mourned when your eyes were dull with sadness, he missed the spark of light in your eyes and wished for their return. But why was this a problem?

You were two different species and between you two, the age gap was huge. He would live longer than you and it saddened him at the thought of living without you. He wanted to be with you but, he knew you and him would never be. He had to lead the Autobots and he didn't want to risk hurting you for he cared for you. He would deal with the pain of knowing that he could never have you all to himself for your safety was more important.

You confronted him one day and confessed your feelings. And how it went was not how you planned it to be.

"I love you too [your name]. But," that single word made your stomach drop, "we could never be together even if we both really want to. This war is separating us for I fear if you and I were to be together we would both be harmed in a way that I can not describe. I wish that we could, but we mustn't for your and my own safety. I'm sorry."

Your heart shattered and your eyes dulled as tears started to fall from the corners of your eyes.

"I-I under-understand." That was all you could manage out before fleeing to your room to mourn.

You lifted your head from beneath your pillow to wipe the tears and hair sticking on your red slushed cheeks. You had to make a decision.

Get over it and move on by staying by Optimus' side as only a friend.

Or avoid him.

You had to choose wisely for this would affect your future.
