Perfectly Imperfect

The First Day

Brittany's POV

We reached school with plenty of time to spare. We got out of the car and decided to get familiar with our surroundings.

Everybody was so nice! Especially this cute guy, Justin. He was a senior, but seemed to get along with everyone. Too bad he was already taken!

The tour went pretty well, we met many new people as well.

Though Justin's girlfriend, not the first person I'd invite to a party.

The down part was that as we were all taking different subjects, we had different classes.

Before we had a chance to explore some more, the bell rang. Which meant biology for me.

Natasha had that class with me. We both rushed to the class, not wanting to be late, and making a bad impression on our very first day.

We sat down together and talked while waiting for class to start.

"Good morning students! I am Mr. Wale and I will be your human biology teacher this year."

He had a friendly smile, but there was something fishy about him. Something in the eyes.

I avoided meeting his eyes for the rest of the period. I don't know what it was, but there was something about that made me uncomfortable.

Me and Natasha exited the classroom as soon as the bell rang. She had a different period but I had chemistry.

I entered the classroom and sat next to a boy with short brown hair.

Talk about attitude.

I said hi, and he just nodded and looked away.

'What's HIS problem?!' I thought.

The teacher came quite late, and since I didn't have much company... I was bored.

When the bell finally rang, I ran out.

I found Vanessa by her locker and went to her. She and me both had a free period now, so we just roamed the halls. I saw Justin, he waved at me, I waved back. He smiled and I melted.

The rest of the day ended in a blur. And when we final got back home, I was exhausted!

I went to lay down for a while. After a while, I woke up to the sounds of two people shouting.

I quickly got out of bed and hurried downstairs.

The sight that met my eyes was one I was used to by now.

Natasha and Ciara standing opposite each other and looking like they might murder each other.

Vanessa in the middle trying to stop them from strangulating each other. I went to help her and held back Natasha while Vanessa held back Ciara.

They still tried to break free but I managed to take Natasha upstairs.

"Why didn't you just let me have a shot at her??" She said once we were upstairs and I let her go.

"Because! She's still our friend! whatever happened between you too is in the past. Let it go already." I said.

"It's not that! It's something different each time. She just loves to test my patience." She said still fuming.

"But she's still your friend. You need to make the time you spend with her better, and the only way that's going to happen is if you cooperate."

"I try to. But she doesn't!" She said.

"And you can't make her. So why waste your life expecting people to change their ways, when you yourself can make a difference? Why rely on others? Why not show her that you're better than her?"

She sighed before answering,"I guess I could try harder."

I smiled brightly before answering,"That's more like it! Now let's go downstairs and pretend like this never happened?"

She nodded and we went downstairs.

Ciara was nowhere in sight. Vanessa looked when we entered and sighed.

"I am seriously tired of you two fighting." She said annoyed.

"I'm sorry you always have to be in the middle of it." Natasha said looking truly sorry.

"That's okay. I cheered her up but she had to go home. Some family thing."

We nodded, when Vanessa's phone started ringing. She answered.

"Hello?"

I could't hear what the person she was talking to her was saying but it seemed serious.

"You're serious", she asked her eyes widening.

Me and Natasha exchanged a confused and worried look.

"You're not kidding?" She said, her eyes opening even wider. A little more, and they would pop out.

I'd never seen Vanessa so freaked out before, and it wasn't good.
