a/n hA you thought I would've ended it that nicely... no.
Jack's POV
Sitting on the couch in Y/n's basement, her, Jaeden, Finn, and I were about to watch a movie. After the whole 'night in Costco' orchestration, there was a lot of tension in the air.
Lying down on the display mattress, I missed the warmth that was y/n next to me. After Finn and Jaeden walked in on us, she decided it would be best to go talk to Finn. I felt bad, but at the same time, I didn't. It was fair ground.
"Jack?"
Jaeden called from the opposing mattress.
"Yeah, Jaeden?"
He tensed up a bit.
"What Finn and I saw, it really hurt him. I know that you both like her. But that really shook him up."
"But what if Finn does the same thing? What if once I turn a cheek he's making out with her?"
A long, sharp pause was in the air.
"He's your best friend. He needs you."
Dreading the thought that I knew he was right, I reluctantly made my way in the direction Finn left in.Coming up on the home fixture aisle, I heard shuffling.
"Look Finn, I'm sorry for what I did. It was a dick move,"
He was sitting in the bathtub, cuddled up to her side.
His lips. On hers.
It was like in that moment, I couldn't function. All of my common sense was washed down the drain.
He looked up, smiling gently. Thinking that perhaps this didn't phase me. Thinking that it was a joke.
Y/n's eyes met mine and immediately got glossy.
"Fuck you Finn."
I stormed out to the nearest fire exit, not caring that the alarm would be set off.
Pressing my hands against the door, I could hear y/n shouting at Finn. It was what he deserved.
Pressing harder, the loud alarm went off.
But it wasn't my problem anymore."Jack, could you pass the popcorn?"
Y/n asked from next to me, motioning to the popcorn that was on the side table.
Handing it to her, she offered up a bright smile.
After everything went down that day, y/n was the first one to come to me.General POV
"Finn! What the fuck! He tried to apologize and all you did was sit there on your ass smiling at him!"
There were tears streaming down her cheeks, voice cracking because of the shouting.
"What was I supposed to do? Tell him I was sorry? That I regretted it? Well guess what? I don't."
The alarm blared throughout the warehouse.Approaching his front door, a broken down
y/n was preparing herself to talk to Jack.
The tall dark wood door swung open, showing a disheveled Jack.
"L-look. I just want to talk. As friends. I need one right now."
He nodded, and let her in.
They sat, and talked. Nothing more, nothing less. It wouldn't be until three days later that Finn would come to his senses and apologize. A call that would ring on Jack's phone; late at night. Speaking his message, Finn would mean it. Every. Single. Word. From then on, she, Finn, and I vowed to go back to just being friends. As hard as it was, I managed. But I didn't know how long it would last.
Sitting here, next to y/n; it brought all of those feelings back. The way her bright smile would show when there was a joke in the movie, or when I would playfully poke her side. Or the way her eyes could take me places I've never been before, and how they would alw-
"Jack?"
Jaeden's shouting shook me out of my trance, only now realizing how dark it was in the house.
"It's really dark in here. Someone should fix that."
They all looked at me and rolled their eyes.
"The power went out, dumbass."
"Shut up, Finn. You didn't know how to work the blu ray player."
Rolling his eyes, he went back to his phone.
"Okay, Finn and Jaeden, there's some candles upstairs in the office; third drawer from the left. And Jack would you hold the flashlight while I flip the electrical box?"
I nodded eagerly, knowing I'd get some time alone with her.
While Finn & Jae trudged up the stairs, y/n led me down into the lower level where the electrical box was located.
In the nicely furnished room, there was a washer, dryer, sink, and cabinets. To the far left wall was a grey metal box.
"Okay, so I'm just going to need you to hold the flashlight right around the switch plate."
I did as she said, and watched as her eyes closely focused on reading the labels of the switches.
"Ah, got it."
Her finger ran over the label reading 'main power' and flicked it off. Before she could turn it back on, I touched her hand. I could sense her tensing up, about to ask what I was doing.
"J-jack."
"I still love you."
Her expression went blank. God I screwed this up.
"I-I,"
Bracing for whatever she was about to say, I closed my eyes.
"still love you too."
Opening my eyes, I saw that she had spun around and we were very close. Her warm and shallow breaths could be felt on my neck, making me shiver.
"B-but we made a pact. I can't hurt you or Finn like that again."
I couldn't wait any longer.
I planted a kiss on her lips. Slow and soft; almost like our first kiss.
She pulled away, biting her lip.
"Then I guess we won't tell Finn."
She smiled. A genuine one too.
"God, back at those antics. But I wouldn't have it any other way."
I laughed. It was a sad laugh; the ones you hear about in novels.
It was sad because I knew that I couldn't tell anyone. I couldn't tell the world that she was my one and only.
But I promise you, I will be able to.
One way, or another.a/n more like this?
