Blood.

The smell of blood filled my nostrils as the compelled human sliced his wrists and let the blood drop on the glass. "Hurry up and finish that." I said without turning to him, eyes glued on the canvas and the paintbrush in my hand.

Just as I was about to do another stroke of the paintbrush, the sound of my phone ringing loudly stopped me. I sighed before placing the paintbrush down, I stood up and sped to my room in vampire speed.

Too annoyed to even glance at the caller ID, I pushed the answer button and pressed the phone against my ear.

"What?" I asked, my voice sounding harsh and rude.

Painting is something I do whenever I felt confused or agitated. And whenever I felt like i'm somehow not myself, it helps me think. It's more like my own personal "thing" that helps me to be in control. But most of the time, I do painting as a hobby.

And when i'm painting, means i'm concentrating.

And when i'm concentrating, it means I didn't want to be interrupted.

That's why I couldn't help but be so annoyed and when my phone suddenly rang.

I heard the person from the other line chuckled softly. "Hello to you too." The familiar voice say in amusement.

A small groan escaped my lips when I realized who it was. "Really, you have impeccable timing." I said as I crossed my arms, even though the one I was talking to couldn't exactly see me.

"You're painting, aren't you?" And when I didn't answer, he chuckled again. "i'm right." it wasn't a question. It was statement. He said as if he was very sure that he was right.

But sadly, he is.

I frowned. "Well, you do know that I hate it when i'm interrupted while i'm painting." I said before sitting down on the edge of my queen sized bed.

"I know." He chuckled again. I rolled my eyes at his retort. Sometimes he's really annoying.

I let out a small sigh before finally turning serious. "so, why'd you call?"

"Is it bad to check up on my girlfriend?" He asked jokingly. But even though he said it as if it was a joke, something tells me he meant half of what he said.

That's why I said the only thing I always say when he says stuff like these...

"I am not your girlfriend." I said seriously. "We are FRIENDS—with benefits—who actually love each other—BUT we can't be together."

I heard him scoff. "Fine. Whatever you say."

"So, back to the question..." I clicked my tongue. "Why did you call me? Is something wrong? Because you just called an hour ago."

"I have something I want to tell you." The playfulness and lightness of his voice vanished and it suddenly became serious.

It caught my attention.

"Yes? What is it?"

I heard him take a deep breath before answering. "Go to Mystic Falls, and i'll tell you when we see each other there."

I nodded but then realized he couldn't see me so I muttered an "okay."

"I'll be heading there tomorrow." I told him.

"Good. Then, I shall see you soon." I couldn't help but notice the slight change in his voice, as if he was glad that I agreed to come over. "I have got to go now. Goodbye, Alexandra."

"I love you."

I snorted. "Don't call me that. But anyway, I shall see you then. Goodbye."

I hesitated but said it anyway.
