After surviving the alpha pack and Jennifer, Emilia and Derek thought things would get better. For a while it did, the couple had spent time with the both of their families, travelling over to south america to take Cora home - despite Emilia's protests. While in Beacon Hills everything was normal as it could be for those three months, but they didn't know what was going to hit them.
