"Wow."
"She has a boyfriend."
"You better treat her right!" Anni threatened playfully.
Jacob took her threat serious and nodded.
"But tell that Bella. She's the one who needs to be threatened."
He turned to me and looked me deep into my eyes again.
"You sure she didn't do anything?"
"Yeah. Totally sure."
"I'm glad", he said and hugged me again.
"We should do something. I'm bored. And I don't want to go to school right now. Even if Bella would come back to make sure that I'm here."
"I parked my truck around the corner. Just let me load up my bike and we four can go to the beach."
"And fortunate for us, we have swim suits here. We decided this morning to just ditch school and go swimming."
"What are we waiting for?" I asked and headed to Jacob's truck.
They followed me. I got into the passenger seat while the other two got into the back and Jacob loaded up his bike. Then he got in and drove us to the beach.

No one's POV

Meanwhile, someone was in Destinee's room. A man moved around the room as if searching for something. He then came upon a cloth which he picked up and sniffed at, taking in the sweet smell. His eyes darkened with thirst. He clutched the material in his hands and and jumped out the window. Just as Jacob's truck pulled up. Destinee kissed her boyfriend and bid him a good night before going inside. When she stepped through the door, goose bumps made their way over her whole body. Just then, she heard the snores of Charlie. Destinee chuckled and went into the living room, where he was sleeping at the couch. He was still in his uniform and different files and a newspaper with an article about the situation in Seattle were laying shattered around him. The brunette turned around and quietly went into the kitchen to make coffee for him. Another car pulled up outside and the front door opened. Destinee heard Charlie get up and go to the doorway.
"You know... Edward could at least respect meal times."
Bell turned around, startled. Charlie leaned in the living room doorway indicating his watch.
"I was just on the reservation", she answered.
"Oh... Good."
Charlie heard something in the kitchen and turned around, only to see Destinee coming up to him with a cup of steaming coffee.
"Since when are you here?" he asked and gratefully took the coffee.
"Just a few minutes ago. Jacob drove me home. We hung out with Anni and Yana. You know these two from the gymnastics."
"Does that mean you weren't in school today? I told you to go!" Bella yelled.
"Bella, calm down! I gave her permission since she's a straight A student, unlike you."
There was a knock on the door. Charlie knew who it was and stepped back into the living room.
"Hey", Bella greeted Edward.
"Do you understand how worried I've been?" he asked.
"I was perfectly safe."
"I almost broke the treaty to make sure of it."
He abruptly stopped and inhaled. His face was alarmed.
"I know, I smell like a dog. I'm sorry."
"No, no. Something's wrong", Edward interrupted and moved to the second floor.
He darted throughout it, checking it. Charlie didn't hear him... he was talking to Destinee in the kitchen and asking about her day.
"How was your day?"
"It was really good..."
Edward bolted first into Bella's room. He didn't find something suspicious. He then went into Destinee's room where he immediately noticed something different.
"Edward?"
Bella stood at the door. She was watching with a curious look on her eyes. She was wondering why her boyfriend did what he was doing right now.
"What are you doing?"
"Get Desti."
"Ts."
"Get. Her."
"Ugh fine", Bella grunted and went downstairs.
"Destinee."
Bella motioned for her to follow.
"What is it?"
"Just follow brat."
"You are no one to order me around."
Destinee went upstairs, ahead of Bella and went inside her own room and was about to close the door when she saw Edward there.
"What. Are. You doing. In my room?"
"Someone's been here."
"No wonder I got goosebumps. I feel something strange too but I couldn't define it yet."
"Get your jacket and come with me", Edward told her and went downstairs."
Destinee was about to follow when Bella grabbed her arm.
"What do you mean you feel something too?" she wanted to know.
"That's none of your business. Brat", Destinee shot and went downstairs.

Bella paced in a frustrated manner in the Cullens' living room. Alice was looking stressed. Bella tried to track the fast-paced conversation Destinee had with Carlisle, Rosalie, and Edward. She wanted to know what they were talked me about.
"Would anyone just tell me what is going on? What are you discussing?"
No one answered her and she got more frustrated.
"We have to figure out where this all is coming from", Carlisle whispered, referring to the just woken abilities of Destinee.
"I could clearly feel coldness, unnatural one."
"Who was it? Someone we know?" Alice asked.
"Just a stranger. I didn't recognize his scent", Edward meant.
"A nomad passing through?"
"A passer-by wouldn't have left Desti's father alive", Rosalie shot.
She earned a glare from Bella.
"That's MY dad we're talking about!"
"You don't deserve such a nice father like him."
Esme wrapped an arm around her just as the door bursted open. Jasper entered.
"His scent disappeared about five miles south of the Swans' house."
"Someone's orchestrating this", Edward noted.
"Victoria?"
"I would've seen her deciding", Almost he told them.
"Then it has to be the Volturi."
"I don't think it's the Volturi either. I've been watching Aro's decisions, too."
"So we keep looking", Emmett groaned.
"We also take shifts, guarding the girls at their house", Carlisle said.
"Another protection detail?" Rosalie snapped.
"Rosalie", Esme scolded.
"No, she's right. You can't protect me, watch my dad... and search for the intruder. And for Victoria. And keep yourselves fed."
"It's not about you damnit! It's about Desti because you set her out as a bait to save your bitchy ass!"
"Please calm down", Emmett begged his wife.
"No!" she bellowed, "that thing over there... doesn't deserve anything she has now. The only thing she deserves is to die alone and without even the tiniest bit of love! And for the record, I'm only protecting Desti. She's the only one I care about!"
She stomped out of her room outside, Emmett following her.
"I'm not leaving one of them here defenseless", Edward mumbled.
"Well, I'm not gonna let you starve. And I wouldn't be unprotected, I have..." she stopped.
An idea appeared in her head. She looked at Edward, a tiny glimmer of optimism flashing on her face. And Destinee knew what was going on in Bella's mind. But she knew that it wasn't going to work.

Edward stood frozen in place in front of the Swans' residence, leaning against his car, Bella next to him, waiting his eyes unblinkingly watching the front door. Finally, it opened and Destinee exited, Jacob behind her. Edward met them halfway while Bella just stood there, huffing.
"Whoever it was, he left his stink behind. It'll be hard to miss when we cross it again. We'll handle it from here", Jacob said.
"We don't need you to handle anything. Or anyone."
Jacob stepped towards Edward who didn't move.
"I could care less what you need."
"Alright, we're done here", Edward shot.
"No, you're done here", Jacob shot back.
Destinee moved between them.
"Stop. I'm tired of this. From now on I'm Switzerland, Okay?"
She tried to push them apart, but it was like trying to push boulders.
"Stop! Please", she begged.
Jacob looked at her and stepped back. Edward just looked at him. Bella decided to speak up.
"I don't expect you guys to chuck a football around together. Fine. But we have a lot of problems. And this is one temporary solution. Are you willing to at least try?"
After long moments of silence, Edward nodded. Then Jacob did.
"For Desti."
"Alright, so you need to coordinate. You know, schedules and stuff", Bella continued.
No one said anything. Bella sighed and turned to Jacob.
"Would the pack prefer days or nights?"
"I would prefer day."
"You will get night", Bella said and turned to Edward.
She knew that Jacob would say that.
"Will days work for your family?" she asked Edward.
The vampire nodded.
"Good. See? How hard was that?"
Jacob glared at Bella's head from behind as she walked off.
'Why did she have to ruin my plan? I wanted to spent the nights with my imprint.'
"You still can. She won't notice, I promise. We will take your shift then", Edward said as he read Jacob's mind.
"Thank you."

Night time

Destinee stood next to her window, looking down at her protector. Then the wolf transformed into Jacob who jogged to the tree next to the house and climbed it, then jumped in.
"Finally. You had me waiting long enough."
"Just making sure miss evilness next door doesn't notice me being here with you", he mumbled as he held her close.
"So you got any plans tomorrow?"
"No, why?" She asked.
"We're going to a party tomorrow."
"What party?"
"Bonfire. I'll pick you up then?"
"Be punctual wolfie", the brunette teased.
"Always am", Jacob said and gave his imprint a last peck on the lips, before he quickly jumped out of her window.
