Unfortunately the morning came too fast for everyone's liking. They were all standing in a large snow-covered field. The Cullens and the freshly married couple at the front and the other witnesses scattered around them. Jacob had his arms wrapped protectively around his wife's belly. She was already looking like she was close to giving birth. The other wolves weren't there yet and the Volturi were close by.

"We will get out of this, alive", Jake whispered to his wife.

"I really hope so", she whispered back.

They waited more minutes till Garrett interrupted the silence.

"The Redcoats are coming! The Redcoats are coming!"

The army suddenly emerged from the tree line, the wives, the guard and the three kings. They were clearly outnumbering the witnesses.

"Aro's looking for Alice."

The army got closer, but they stopped when the wolf packs came out from behind the witnesses. Leah and Seth came to stand next to Destinee and Jacob.

Destinee's POV

"Aro, let us discuss things as we used to. In a civilized manner."

"Fair words, Carlisle. But a little out of place, given the battalion you've assembled against us."

"I can promise you, that was never my intent. No laws have been broken."

"We see an immortal child. Do not treat us as fools."

"She is not an Immortal! These witnesses can attest to that. Or you can look. See the flush of human blood in her cheeks."

"Artifice!" Caius exclaimed.

I flinched at how loud it sounded to my ears. Jake tightened his grip on me and his thumbs moved over my belly. My heart was beating very fast and I feared that it would jump out of my chest every moment.

"I will collect every facet of the truth. But from someone more central to the story. Edward, as the child clings to your newborn mate, I assume you are involved."

Edward looked at Renesmee before he made his way towards Aro. As he reached him, Aro extended his hand and took Edward's. He used his power to read his thoughts and realized that Renesmee was not an immortal child.

"I'd like to meet her."

Edward turned around and looked at Renesmee. Bella grabbed her daughter's hand and yanked her forward. I let out a growl and Jacob of course joined in.

"Ah. Young Bella. Immortality becomes you."

Bella smirked at him. I threw a knowing glance at my husband. Aro then shrieked with laughter as he seemed to have heard Renesmee's heart beating.

"I hear her strange heart."

He held out his hand, but she ignored it and touched his cheek, using her powers to show him her memories. The king becomes impressed.

"Magnifico! Half mortal, half immortal. Conceived and carried by this newborn while she was still human."

"Impossible!" Caius exclaimed.

Again I flinched.

"Do you think they fooled me, brother? But that is actually not the real reason we are here. An anonymous informer told us that you have a Magi in your circle."

I listened closely as I tried going into his mind and heard some angry thoughts, but not coming from him.

'Just kill her already, you idiot!'
