The Perfect Gift

Part 5

The middle princess departed from the White's family home and quickly skipped merrily toward the last place she saw her sisters.

Princess Missy was busily picking wildflowers while playing with a rabbit in an adorable, sweet, smelling meadow.

Both of them played and played until they were so tired they fell asleep amongst the hundreds of flowers.

While she slept, Princess Missy dreamt she was a dove flying through the sky. In her dream, she passed through clouds and rainbows, found a hidden city, and saved a butterfly from a deadly spider. To her surprise, right before she was able to glide across the ocean, she started to fall. And just as she hit the cold ocean water, she awoke to find her friend was gone, and an ominous storm cloud in the sky.

It started to rain cats and dogs, as she raced into an unfamiliar woodland on the opposite side of the meadow. She managed to find a cave and hid inside it for shelter. As she moved toward the back of the cave to be farther away from the thunder, she stepped on a grizzly's tail. This made the creature roar with fury; along with making its enraged red eyes glow.

It lunged toward the little princess and grabbed a hold of the hem of her dress, as she desperately tried to escape! She kicked and screamed, but just when all hope seemed lost, she saw several, shadowy, figures enter the cave. All she could hear was fierce, growling, and howling noises. All this terrorized and overwhelmed her to the point that caused her to faint.

Back at the Black Castle in the prison, Princess Sue cried out of loneliness, hunger, and fear for her sister's lives. Through her sobs, she could hear Hendel talking to herself of her evil plan.

"I shall capture the three princesses and hold them ransom; until their parents turn their kingdom over to me, then, I shall turn them all into blackbirds, and bake them into a pie and devour them whole." she screeched.

Around early afternoon, Michie was at the fork of the road waiting for her dear sisters. After two hours she began to cry and made a wish upon a little red bird to see her dear sisters again soon.

The little red bird began to sing and beckoned the girl to follow him. He flew along a path which leads out of town and toward the wilderness.

At the exact same moment, Princess Missy, was starting to awake. When she opened her eyes she was surprised to find a wolf pup sitting next to her.The pup gladly licked her face to show affection, as she tried to rise into sitting position. As she held out her hand to pet the pup a large black wolf approached her.

She tried to apologize by telling him she meant no harm. She was shocked to see him smile, bow, and introduce himself. He said his name was, Black Tooth, that the rest of the wolves with him were his family. He told her how he had saved her from the bear attack and drove it into a river.

After she heard this, she thanked him and introduced herself. He then bowed low to her, pledged his loyalty to her, and gave his word to protect her at all cost as he took her back to his den.

Later that night, Princess Sue, awoke to the sounds of Handel's curious cat. He leaped up to the cage bars and started to squeeze his way inside the cage.

Sue now in her human form walked over to the cat and tried to drive it away by shooing it. For she knew that if the cat was still around when she returned to her bird form, then her life would be in even more peril!

Meanwhile, Princess Michie was still following the red bird through the woods, when she found some paw prints in the damp earth along with Princess Missy's shoe prints. She could tell it was her sister's shoe prints because on the bottom of her shoes has a heart design, which left a special mark when she walked around. She soon became worried and fearful that her little sister had been eaten by the wolf and asked the bird to go faster.
