Chapter 9: The Year of Jubilee

And so we've come to the end of another. Only one more to go and this story will be complete.

Summary: Anastasia shows up to stop Uther's madness. Merlin and his brethren marry the girl of their dreams. Happily ever after as we all know and love follows.

     There, standing, or rather floating, in the middle of the floor was none other than Anastasia. But that was impossible. She was supposed to be dead!
     The second Uther saw her, tears filled his eyes. "Anastasia! My love... my wife...my queen...how? You can't be here! You left me! You left me 6, almost 7, years ago!"
     Anastasia moved closer to her husband and laid a hand on his face. "Uther, calm yourself. I am really here. I'm sorry for leaving you but it was necessary. Our daughters have grown up into beautiful young women and are ready to live their lives. It's time to let them go."
     "No! This isn't real! This is sorcery I tell you! This boy has cast a spell!"
     "No, my love. That boy is what will save you. Let our daughters go."
     "But if I lose you and my daughters, I've lost everything."
     "You haven't lost us. By letting them go, you may just save your relationship with our daughters and, as for me, I'll always be with you. I love you, Uther Pendragon. I always have."
     With that, Uther fell down on his face and surrendered the crown to his son. And Anastasia gave her last farewell to her family before leaving for the afterlife.
     At this, Arthur took the throne. "Well then, Merlin, you have solved the mystery. As promised, you may choose from among my sisters, a wife." When Merlin hesitated, Arthur added, "Surely you have made your pick?"
     "Indeed I have and I have already asked for her hand; she has agreed but I feel that I am not the only one who needs, and deserves, a wife."
     Suddenly, the throne room was filled with light as 11 men and a little girl appeared.
     "These men are my friends and my brethren. They have waited for their wives just as I have. If I may, I would like to change the reward so that we all can marry."
     "Granted."
     With that, Rose ran into Merlin's arms, as did Natalia ran into Karayan's arms, Regina into Leon and Emily's arms, Seraphina and Sapphira into Gwaine and Lancelot's arms, Marina into Alistair's arms, Elsa into Damen's arms, Jasmine into Aladdin's arms, Ruby into Percival's rather muscular arms, Belle into Mordred's arms, Evelyn into Seth's arms, and Lacey into Lyall's arms.
     After this was what came to be called the Wedding of the Millennium, in which each princess was married, according to the man's age.
     Rose married Merlin, with Belle and Mordred married not long after. The four moved to Powys where Merlin took over as high king, with Rose by his side as his queen, the high queen, and Belle and Mordred ruled beside them, also as a king and queen. They continued to show kindness and ruled the kingdom better than any before or since.
     Next, Elsa married Damen, which was a given because she was crazy about him and vice versa. They moved to Spiritus as king and queen. And every winter, Elsa would use her powers to make the most beautiful snowfall the kingdom had ever seen.
     Natalia married Karayan. He was once more welcomed back as the king of Umbra, except now he had Natalia by his side as his queen. She still went on to become the next high priestess and was found to be very helpful and trustworthy, unlike those that had had the title before her.
     Lacey was married to Lyall, Evelyn to Seth, and Jasmine to Aladdin, all in a triple wedding, and they all went travelling together. Seth was not only married to Evelyn but also mated to her which resulted in them having a lot of children.
     Regina and Ruby had a double wedding, with Regina marrying Leon and Ruby marrying Percival before moving back to Winchester where the two men became knights once again, under the command of a kind king known as Leopold. Regina and Leon were finally able to give their children a complete family. Jason and Emily were closer than any siblings they'd ever seen. Ruby, much like Seth, had mated her lover as well as marrying him and her and Percival had a rather large family together, something they were both happy about.
     The twins also had a double wedding but so what? They shared everything anyway. Seraphina married Gwaine and Sapphira married Lancelot. Gwaine was accepted to become king of Lot with Seraphina by his side as his queen. Lancelot went back to being his most trusted knight and Sapphira was given a high place of authority, having control over all the noble houses. It was a match made in heaven.
     Marina was the last to marry (go figure) and to Alistair. Once they were married, they went to Auradon where Alistair's sister, Aurora, was finally free from her curse. Marina and Aurora bonded instantly. Alistair and Marina became king and queen over Auradon with Aurora as their second.
     As for Arthur, Merlin was right. He became the greatest king Paradise had ever known. Guinevere, of course, became queen and shortly thereafter, gave birth to their second daughter, whom she named Emma.
     Everything was perfect and since the kingdoms were close to one another, the rather large family saw each other often.
     Uther hadn't regained his sanity. Unfortunately, that day would never come but at least he was still close to his family.
     And, just as prophesized, this became the year of jubilee, the time of peace and prosperity in the 7 kingdoms.
     All was well...
