The Fallen- Chapter 2

*Picture of Heather*

Well, now that I have one friend, school might now be that bad. I still fucking hate it though.

I think I might join something though. Something that has meaning to me.

Journalism just isn't enough though. I don't like writing gossipy stuff in a newspaper. My passion is to write books. To be an author. But that doesn't seem realistic right now. I need to be a bit older, know a lot more about the world before I head into the career. So now I'm stuck with one thing. A sport. I mean sports are okay but I just don't get the idea of them. They're almost completely useless!

"Ready?" I heard someone say.

Dammit, I lost my train of thought.

"For what." I asked, falling back into the real world.

"Lunch?" the girl said. I realized that the girl, that was talking to me, was Heather. I said I would sit with her at lunch.

"Umm, yeah." I said, closing my locker and turning towards her, "Ready."

Lunch was a mad house. I felt as if I was at a concert, volume times eleven. Crowds of people were around tables. Lunch ladies screaming to get stolen foods back. Monitors breaking up fights.

"It's not so bad once you get used to it." I heard Heather say, but barely over the sound of some girl crying because she spilled milk on her new dress.

I followed her to the table where there were 2 people sitting. One had blonde hair and blue eyes. She looked like she did her homework every night and went to bed at 8. The other had tan skin and dark brown hair. She looked like she could beat someones ass in seconds. I guess diversity ran through out here.

"Hey guys, this is Bryce, he's new here." Heather said, sitting next to the brown haired girl.

"Hi." I said quietly, sitting next to Heather.

"Could you be more quiet," the brown haired girl laughed.

"Could you be more bitchy?" I asked, staring at her.

They all looked at me and laughed.

"I like this kid," the girl said

"Bryce, this is Kiah." she laughed

"And the other is Anna." Kiah said

"Well thanks guys," Anna said. She seemed nice I guess. She's probably your typical blonde though.

"So Bryce," Kiah questioned, "See any cute tays?" she cooed. Why was I all of the sudden reminded of Mean Girls?

"Well," I said looking around. The guys are pretty cute here. Abs and all. But they're all the same. I made a second round of looking when a pair of eyes caught my attention. Immediately the eyes looked away, turning towards the group of friends near him. Those eyes. I've seen them before. This morning, during first period.

"One person I guess."

"Who is it?" She interrogated

"I don't know his name but-"

"Wait wait wait wait wait, it's a guy?!" Heather asked

"Yeahhh.....?"

"So you're like..." Anna went on

"Gay." I said.

"Awesome!" Kiah said, "Now our group is complete." she smiled, and looked at me.

"Now who is he?" Anna asked.

"I don't know his name." I said.

"Well where does he sit?" Heather questioned

"By the concession booth, far left, brown hair, brown eyes, perfect lips, abs, little tan-"

"Wait?! You like Nick? Like Nick Fereldo?"

"I guess."

"He's the school's most homophobic asshole." she informed me

"Oh." I whispered and looked back. Nick was laughing. Probably at a joke someone just told him. He glanced at me and smiled even wider, then frowned. I growled a little. Mixed feelings suck. Especially with me, and with my mothers big heart.

The rest of the day was again, a blur. Teachers, I guess, hate new kids because every other class I went to they made an exaggerated huff and went on with the class. The last period of the day was a relief. I could finally go home soon.

I walked into the class and sat down. Biology is going to suck this year. The teacher didn't even bother making me welcome, he just got started. the bell had rung five minutes ago and my partner wasn't even here. Great. Biology alone. I heard the door open and I looked up in hope for my partner to be here. my stomach dropped. I looked down quickly at the worksheet the teacher had given us and tried to pay attention to it. But my eyes kept going up to the person who had just walked in. Nick Fereldo had just walked into my Biology class. That meant only one thing. He was my partner.

I heard the teacher gasp and my head popped up again. Nick had a rag to his face and blood was dripping down from it.

"What happened?" the teacher asked.

"I got hit in the face with a flying ball, but I'm 'ight." he casually said and came towards his seat. I could tell he didn't notice me until he was closer because he stopped shortly. Then he starting walking again. Ever so slowly. Then he sat down and coughed exaggeratedly.

"Hello." he laughed

"What's so funny," I raised my eyebrow.

He stopped laughing, and shook his head quickly, "Nothing," he smiled at the word. There was a certain tenderness around him. It looked like he cared, but most likely doesn't show that he cares a lot.

"Don't mess this one up too" a quiet voice said. It was too low for anyone else to hear. But I heard it. Clearly.
