Chapter 6- Meet Death Himself
My blood.
"I'm sorry Bryce, but I need to drop you off quickly." he pulled away from my gaze and sped forward.
"Is it because of my blood?" I asked quietly
"Sort of." he admitted reluctantly
"It's okay, I understand." I think I do at least. I just didn't know what else to say.
"You could say, that you're blood is different than others. It has a sweet smell, like a fresh zebra to a lion." he said in pain
I looked out the window and saw that we were only 2 blocks away from my house.
"Stop the car, now." I said.
"But we're only 2 blocks away," he winced again.
"I'm not gonna let you sit in pain because of me." I declared. He gave me a look of confusion, then stopped the car to let me out.
"Thank you, Nick." he looked at me, " Thanks for saving me." he took my hand and squeezed it.
"Anytime." he smiled. Then he drove off.
Only 2 things I knew I was sure of:
1. Nick was a vampire.
2. He just saved my life.
After I got home, I turned on the news to see if they had caught the robber or not. Turns out, they did find him and gave the money back to the owner of the gas station.
That's wonderful. The owner was crying and thanking the police man who had put the robber away.
I went upstairs to take a shower. All of the things that happened today is making me feel nauseous.
For at least 20 minutes of the shower, I let the water run down my body.
After I got out, I put the towel around my waist and walked into my room to change.
"Hellllo." I heard someone coo
"Holy shit!" I screamed and jumped in fright
"Calm down, I'll turn around." he said. I looked over in the corner to see Nick standing, head faced the wall.
"Why the hell are you in here?" I asked
"I couldn't just walk into your house. That would be rude." he explained. I felt a gust of cold wind and I saw that the window was open.
"So climbing through my window was better?" I raised my eyebrow. I threw on a pair of shorts and a loose sweater.
"Yes. For me, anyways." he said, turning around to meet my gaze. He was so much taller than me. At least 3 inches.
In an instant, he was infront of me, looking me up and down.
"What did you have for dinner?" I jokingly smirked
"Teen girly girl from farawayville." he easily slipped. I laughed, at the joke, the warmth of his hand was so hot up against my wet skin. I hadn't noticed until now but he was getting closer and closer to me.
"You were joking, right?" my nervous habit of biting my lip started.
"Of course," he honestly said
"You would never hurt me, right? We're, friends?"
"Yes." he smirked
"Well, why are you getting closer to me?" I hesitatingly asked
He looked down at his feet, they were touching mine.
"I guess I got carried away." he blushed. He let go of my cheek and turned around, walking to the other side of the room. "Sorry,"
"You're okay Nick, like you said, zebra to lion. Sometimes temptation is too much to give into."
"I'm not a good person to get involved with, Bryce." he warned
"Too late," I noted. My body floating towards him, and lacing my own fingers with his.
"Bryce." he warned with his ragged breath. His heart beat was getting faster and faster. Mine was doing the same.
I could smell the bare iron on his breath. The only thing I could bare to look at was his chest, otherwise I would give in and mess everything up. My hair still dripped from my shower onot his fuzzy arm. His arm was so hot, it almost sizzled when the drops of water from my hair dripped onto it.
He pulled away. "I'm-" and he was gone from my room.I blushed. I never knew I could be that good of a kisser. I've only kissed one other person in my life and that was 2 years ago.
My rosy cheeks faded, and my smile faded. We could never be together. There's just too much he has to live for. I don't want to suck him into this life.
"Why me?" I said, falling fast asleep in my bed after my encounter with a vampire.
