Mike

'Mom pass the syrup" Mike Wheeler called to his mother over the table of dining room, squinting his eyes as the morning sunlight shone through the laced blinds onto his freckled cheeks and brown- almost black iris'. "Please, Micheal." His mother intervened handing him the bottle of brown sweetness, "yeah whatever."
"So are you biking to school or-"
"-yes, I'm meeting Lucas and Dustin at... 8:45" mike replied his mother checking his digital watch on his wrist.
School. He was going back to school already.

Summer had gone quickly for Micheal Wheeler, nothing so eventful or interesting took place, mainly just endless campaigns with Lucas and Dustin. Lucas Sinclair and Dustin Henderson, aka Mike Wheelers best friends- only friends. They were known as the 'nerds' or to Troy and James 'freaks'.
Troy and James are the school Bullies, they are insufferable, like a pack of only two hunting down their next target; to see what's up on the menu, and unfortunately for Mike and his friends the most popular option was them. You could say they like to play with their food, and they are a really big fan of the fresh snacks, any one new to Hawkins Elementary, well, they better pray they don't know their name, that they'll never learn it, because if they do, your in for a hell of a welcoming.

Mike began to wonder as he took his dish up to the sink if there would be any new comers to his grade, any body who could maybe become a member of the party- they really need a cleric, they had all the basics but their cleric actually, Mike's the paladin, Dustin's their bard and Lucas is their ranger, and there is no chance that they're ever gonna get a mage, so that was it.
But who else could possibly play D&D
Mikes senses began to kick in. There would be no one else in their grade that would join their party, let alone want to become friends with them.
Mike looked to his watch 8:46 it read
"Shit!" He whisper-shouted, and he ran through the hallways of his house, not caring to watch where he tread his muddy sneakers on the rug, grabbing his rucksack and stumbling to the garage, holding his breath as he heard his mother scream "MIKE WHEELER WHAT HAVE I-"
"Sorry mom! I gotta go, Dustin and Lucas are waiting!"
"-TOLD YOU ABOUT WALKING DIRT ONTO THIS CARPET-"
But Mike was now too far to hear the continuation of his infuriated mothers yells , pedalling with all the energy he could muster to greet his surely pissed-at-him-for-being-late friends to begin their journey to the first day of prison, the first day of torture,
the first day of hell,
their journey to hell,
their journey to school.

"See! We were so close to being late!"
"On the first day back!"
"How many times do I have to tell you! I'm sorry!"
"Yeah well sorry won't get us anywhere if we're uh late..."
Mike grinned at his best friend Dustin for that foolish statement, of course saying sorry would cool it over a bit with the teacher, "Shut up." Dustin said pushing his bike into the rack, Lucas following close behind. "Yeah but it still doesn't make it ok that you were late." Lucas remarked. "Yeah, yeah." Mike replied under his breath, placing his bike in the rack. The air was cold and harsh this September, but Hawkins couldn't complain after their 100 degree summer, but also none could disagree that the weather was unusually dry for it to be so cold. Mikes cheeks had been tinted pink by the time they had arrived at school, and as he and his friends began to pull of their gloves Mike watched as a brown Ford LTD pulled up in front of the school, the driver was a boy who looked about the right age to be a high schooler, he had a mop of dirty brown hair on his forehead and a solemn unapproachable look on his face, there was another smaller boy in the passenger seat, he looked like he could be a grade or two younger than Mike ,he had softer features than his brother, the boy had soft brown hair in a bowl cut, a boy who owned a face Mike did not recognise, he recognised neither of those faces,
New comers, he thought. "Guys, look." Lucas said nodding towards the car, "New kids?" Dustin asked straitening his cap, "Yep." Mike replied, they all watched as the small boy got out of the car, keeping his gaze on the ground, allowing his brother to hand him his bag.

The three boys watched as they past them, Mike staring intently at the smaller boys face, longing to get a reaction, to which he did. It could've happened in a millisecond, the unknown boys eyes met Mikes staring ones, his eyes were a deep intense brown, they looked alarmed and scared, so much emotion hidden behind them-
"Mike!" Lucas shouted in his ear, "Huh, w-what?" Mike said jumping in response rubbing his now aching ear, "The bell has gone dumbass! Cmon!" Lucas ushered him as Dustin shook his head and walked in the front doors, Mike looked back to where the boy stood, but he was gone. Part of Mike wished he would see that boy again, though he was probably a whole grade or two younger, he wanted to see him. Snap out of it, Mike told himself, and as he began to walk up the steps to the front doors of Hell he looked back out onto the isolated yard, as a single leaf fell from a near by tree he thought again, welcome to 6th grade Mike Wheeler, welcome to your 6th year of Hell.
