Birthday Poem

16 2 10

Birthday boy turns 16 today
The wait is over, its time to play

15 years he lived alone
Watching the world with a heart of stone

Waiting and watching, using the masks
For he knew /they/ were up to the tasks

But in the year before being 16
He made a choice, he changed the scene

He found a girl, and she found him
They became unlikely friends, a chance quite slim

And now today it's the girl who writes this
A poem full of sorrow and bliss

She writes to him of hopes of laughter
Not worrying or wondering what comes after

And so she smiled and gives him this gift
In hopes of helping him be no longer adrift

The words she speak will always ring true
The simple words of "I love you."

And so she wishes him a happy day
A day full of love, laughter, and play

Because it's his birthday ^-^

Happy birthday, L.
I hope it's going to be swell.

Until next time,
