- the rest of the school day was typically uneventful. yerin daydreamed her way through biology, english, world history. she ate lunch with jimin, as always, but she found her mind drifting from his enthusiastic chatter. when it was finally time to get on the bus to go home, she plugged in her earbuds and settled into a quiet seat near the front once again.
the song playing was memory by mamamoo, and it immediately swept her into its calming embrace. yerin watched the rainy streets rush past out the scratched-up schoolbus window, and found herself humming the song to herself.

the bus slowed to a stop at an intersection, and yerin's eyes caught on a boy on the sidewalk. jeongguk. he had earbuds in too, and his black backpack slumped from his shoulders.
yerin's heart jumped as he looked up at the bus and right at her. before she could snap her head away and pretend she hadn't seen him, jeongguk smiled at her. unmistakably.
the light turned green and the bus turned the corner, leaving yerin a flustered mess.
