I’m writing this to tell my story to those who may survive. Or if some other species spring up from our blood and ashes and find this journal they’ll know what came to be of those that lived before them. I should warn you first though, this isn’t a tale for the weak hearted. If you’ve an overactive imagination, queasy stomach, or scare easily, I suggest that you close this book and do not continue any further. Seriously. This is no fairy tale or bedtime fable, this story won’t have a beautiful princess, this story won’t have a knight in shining armour that saves the day, and this story will definitely not end with the words “and they all lived happily ever after”. After all, this story isn’t just a story, it’s a nightmare that doubles as my life.
