KABANATA XXXII: Helpless
Days have passed. I've been sick for 2 more days after our reconciliation and I must say those are the best days of my life.
I felt someone really care about me.
Ken would stay up all night until I fell asleep and be there to take care for me the next day. He's trying his best to cook some decent food for us but we always end up burning the kitchen. And that's when take-out food came into the picture.
We're really miserable in the kitchen. One time he jokingly said, we badly need some cooking lessons to survive the cruelty of being invalid in the kitchen. Pareho pa naman kaming mahilig kumain.
Aminado naman akong I'm not the best cook but he said na yung adobo recipe na ginawa ko is one of the best. At least I've done something that made him happy.
"Let's go on a date." Mahinahon kong sabi. Kanina pa kami nanunuod ng movies and I can feel my eyes ogling out sa sobrang pagkababad namin sa TV. I'm feeling so much better and I want to spend the rest of the day outside his turf.
Somewhere where we could do something memorable and exciting. "Saan mo ba gustong pumunta? Can't we just stay here? Kagagaling mo lang mabibinat ka niyan."
"Sa mall lang naman. I smell like cob webs na Ken, ilang araw na tayong nakakulong dito. I miss the sunshine and the polluted air of the Metro." I let out a small laugh. I know that he knows what I'm talking about.
"Wala kang damit dito pano yun?" I smiled. But he's right. Wala akong damit dito, I mean walang panglakad na damit.
"May damit si Angel diyan, if you want to try yun na lang isuot mo." I giggled. May naisip akong mas magandang idea na isuot.
Tumayo ako at mabilis na tinungo ang closet niya. I rummaged through his signature clothes. Andami talagang damit nung lalaking yun. Para siyang babae. Clothes of all variety.
"Anong ginagawa mo diyan? Wala kang makikitang damit ng babae diyan Mandy. I don't take souvenirs from my girls." I ignored his naughty laugh.
I took out one of his old shirts.
I just want to go out Ken. I don't need to wear extravagant dresses."
"You'll be d-amn sexy in my shirt."
"I know right." And we both laughed.
It's not that something happened between the two of us. Hello halos magdeliryo ko sa lagnat tapos may mangyayari pa. Tsk I sound defensive but it's true.
Ken didn't take advantage of me. I'm one hell of a clingy woman when sick. Para kong unggoy na nakalambitin sakanya palagi.
