You Make Me Happy (Rebirth)

This takes place between Batman #32 & Batman #33

Moonlight streamed into the bedroom from the open balcony door. A cool night breeze gently moved the curtains. The silence in the room was broken every now and then by the sound of Bruce's snoring.

Selina was wide awake. She had been for the past hour. She couldn't take her eyes off of the diamond on her finger.

If you had told her several years ago that she would be engaged, it didn't even have to be to Bruce, you could mention anyone, she wouldn't have believed you.

While Selina had always wanted this, getting married, perhaps one day having kids, she had never saw it actually happening. Not with the life she was leading.

She smiled as she continued to examine the diamond. 'And to think you slipped through my fingers all those years ago.' she thought.

She soon glanced up at the alarm clock on the night stand. It was nearing three o'clock in the morning. Selina needed to get some sleep. She and Bruce, after collecting some equipment and what have you, would be embarking on a highly illegal mission in order to clear her name.

That meant it would be a fair bit of time before she'd be able to sleep in a bed or sleep at all for that matter. 'Better savour it while I can.'

Selina had just started to doze off when she felt Bruce's strong and muscular arms wrap around her. He gently nuzzled against her neck and she could easily picture the small smile that he most definitely had.

"You make me happy, Selina. Damn, never thought I'd get this lucky." he whispered. It didn't take long for her to realise that Bruce wasn't aware that she was awake.

"You make me happy too, Bruce." she replied as she rolled over so that they were now face to face.

"Can't sleep?" he asked.

"I nearly was till you started talking."

He chuckled. "Sorry." He then pulled Selina closer to him and kissed her. "You know, there are always things we can do to get you back to sleep." he began to trail kisses down her neck.

"Is that so?"

"Mmmm, that is so. What do you say?"

Selina knew it was a bad idea. If they decided to do what Bruce currently had in mind, well, they could both say goodbye to sleep all together. Bruce was never one to do it just once. 'Ah to hell with it.' she thought.

"This is a terrible idea, but why the hell not?" Selina moved even closer to Bruce and kissed him again.

The next morning Selina and Bruce were going through their plan once more and securing their equipment. Selina was standing in front of the wardrobe, attaching her whip to her belt while Bruce was near the bed, putting his belt on.

"Are you ready?" Bruce asked, looking over at Selina.

"To embark on a highly illegal mission that will probably get us in trouble with both your friends and you family?" she turned to face him and smiled, "Never been more ready."

"Let's go then."
