9. Manik ko surprise

Hello lovely people. I know half of the chapter is the same as in that of prologue, but I wanted to complete this chapter as the story takes a new turn after this. So, here is the update.

Everyone leaves for their respective homes.

Outside Manik's house

In the car

Manik : Nandu, Mom dad ghar par nahi hai(Nandu’s parents) Why don't you come with me. Akele rehna zaroori hai kya?

Nandu : Mr. Malhotra I can stay alone. Aapko darr lag raha hai kya?

Manik : are you mad? Why would I be scared?

Nandu : Ok then. Goodnight.

Manik : acha fine. Lag raha hai darr. Ab aayegi?

Nandu: You are a grown up man, Malhotra. Start taking care of yourself. Aur waise bhi I need my privacy.

Manik: Privacy?

Nandu: I haven't spend much time with my room today. My room might be missing me. I need to spend some time with my room. So bye.

With that she rushes to her house without giving any chance to Manik to speak.

Manik : (to himself) Yeh ladki ke mood swings bhi na, kabhi bhi aa jaate hai.

Manik gets a call. He picks it up and goes inside his house while talking. After the call, he being tired changes into something comfortable and goes to sleep.

At 11 pm

A girl sneaks into a boy's room and sighs in disbelief seeing the boy sleeping peacefully.

Girl : Manik uth. I woke up for you and you are sleeping.

Manik : tho kisne bola uthne ko? Go and sleep and let me sleep

Girl (to herself) : yeh aise nahi uthega.

Girl (in his ears) : chipku chewing gum tere saare chocolates le ja raha hai.

Manik : Nahiii

Girl giggles and Manik glares.

Manik : Nandu this is the nth time you are waking me up like this. Kitni baar bola hai don't take his name while I am sleeping.

Nandu : Tho tu aise hi uthega na. Come on fast. We are getting late.

Manik : but kaha?

Nandu : just follow me.

While they are half way down, Manik asks

Manik : Nandu why are we climbing down the pipe? Hum stairs bhi tho use kar sakte hain?

Nandu : You brainless creature, stairs se jayenge tho koi dekhlega na.

Manik : Arey oo Einstein. Na tumhare ghar par koi hai, na mere. Kaun dekhega?

Nandu : Manik don't you know, deewaro ke bhi kaan hote hai? And agar kaan hote hai tho eyes bhi honge na. (She said as a matter of fact to which Manik tried to facepalm) Manik don't facepalm. Tum pipe par ho. Fast forward mein niche pahunch jayoge.

Manik gritted his teeth. Both somehow climbed down and Nandu started the car.

Manik : Nandu mujhe car chalane do na. I don't want to die soon.

Nandu : Shut up Manik. Waise bhi tum raasta nahi jaante ho. Let me take you there.

Manik in mind : ya ya. I don't know the way to cliff jahan main pichle 19 saal se ja raha hun. Bhagwan ji bacha lena. Main marunga na tho is par case mat karwana.

(Nandu started driving and as the road was empty she raced the car to the cliff while Manik sat there having no other option, praying for both their lives)

After reaching cliff, seeing the arrangements Manik smiled.
There were lights glittering on the trees. Nandu took a box and went towards Manik and shouted

(Same as Nandu’s decoration for their proposal before Pandit’s kidnap episode)

Nandu : HAPPY BIRTHDAY MANIK

Manik : Thank you Nandini. (Said with a smile and goes to hug her when Nandu stops him.)

Nandu : Manik, this is a surprise. Atleast act like you are surprised.

Manik : OH MY GOD NANDU. Tumhe yaad hai mera birthday? Main khud hi bhul gaya. I am so surprised. Thank you so much for this.

Nandu : You can do much better. Next year tak improve kar lena. Now make a wish.

Manik (in mind) : Bhagwan ji, sab ko khush rakhna aur hum dono ko aise hi saath rakhna.

Nandu makes Manik cut the cake and was about to feed him when some sound comes from the nearby bush.

Manik : Nandu what are those sounds? Tumne kisi aur ko bhi bulaya hai kya?

Nandu : nahi bulaya. Manik raat ke baara bhaje hai na. Koi bhoot hoga tension not.

Manik : What? Bhoo…bhoot. Aur tum itne freely bol rahi ho?

Nandu : Manik bhoot cake nahi khate. We are safe.

Before Manik could shout, someone comes before them making both of them shocked.
