An hour later, the door opened and in walked Reid.
"Where's JJ?" Sophia asked him quickly. He sat across from her and said,
"Filling out the paperwork to bring you home."
"You have to change her mind," she begged him.
"Don't you want her to foster you?" he asked.
"Spencer, she's going to regret it, I promise you. Everyone does," the kid tried to tell him.
"JJ's not everyone," Reid informed her. Before Sophia could make another argument, Jennifer walked in. The girl's eyes shot up and into JJ's blue ones.
"Ready to go?" the blonde asked.
"Where exactly are we going?" Sophia wanted to know.
"I'm taking you back to DC with me."
"Why?"
"Because you deserve a second chance. I don't think you're a bad kid. You've just been through certain things that normal kids your age don't go through."
Sophia just sat there. She couldn't believe it.
"Come on," Jennifer said with a smile, and motioned for the child to leave the room. Sophia nodded then slowly followed JJ out.
The whole team was standing by the door to the police station waiting, and Karen was there too.
"Sophia, be good for Miss. Jareau. She's doing you a big favor," Karen said seriously.
Sophia nodded. Then, JJ led her to a big SUV outside and drove off with Reid and Morgan to the airport. The whole car ride was silent.

When they arrived at the airport, Sophia couldn't believe it. She never went on a plane before, and from the look on her face, JJ could tell something was off.
"You okay?" the blonde asked the girl as they got on the plane.
Sophia nodded silently and took a seat next to JJ by the window.
When the plane took off, Jennifer looked over and could see how intensely the girl was staring at the window. The kid was subconsciously picking at her nails again as well. Right when JJ was about to talk to her, Reid sat down next to them.
"Hey," he said with a smile.
Sophia turned to him.
"So, do you like our private jet?" Spencer asked.
Sophia nodded silently.
"It won't be so bad," Reid told her and tried to make eye contact.
She of course avoided his gaze and looked to JJ.
"I know this is going to be weird for you, but I want to make this work," Jennifer stated.
"Why are you doing this?" Sophia asked coldly.
"I didn't like the thought of you being alone in a mental hospital. You deserve better," JJ told her truthfully.
"But where do you see this going? Like how long am I staying with you?"
"For as long as you want. I talked to my husband and he can't wait to meet you," she said excitedly.
"And you have two boys, right?" Sophia asked.
"Yeah, Henry and Michael. Henry is seven, and Michael is eight months," the blonde said.
"Wait, you have a baby, and you wanted to foster another child. What were you thinking?" Sophia blurted out.
"I was thinking you could help babysit when you're not at school," JJ told her.
Sophia nodded silently then looked out the window.
"You know, Penelope is going no to be super excited to meet you," JJ told her.
"Was she the blonde on the computer?" the girl asked.
Jennifer nodded.
"She seemed nice," Sophia told her.
"She is," JJ confirmed.
After a while, once Sophia got used to being in the air, Reid decided to talk to her.
"Hey, do you want to play cards?" he asked with a smile. Sophia looked up and was about to say no, but Morgan butted in to say,
"I want to play too."
So did JJ.
Soon enough, the whole plane was playing a big game of rummy.
Once they finished and Reid walked away the winner, he asked,
"Do you want to play another card game?"
"Bullshit," Sophia stated.
Everyone looked at her with wide eyes.
"Calm down, it's a game," she assured them.
"Oh, BS?" Morgan asked.
She nodded.
Derek understood and remembered what game it was so he explained it to everyone.
"Bullshit is a game where all the cards are dealt out. Then you start with the ace of spades and go up from there. You go around in a circle with the cards face down. Let's say Rossi is a three but doesn't have any. He can put down something else and say it's a three. If you think he's lying, call bullshit. If he gets away with the lie, he says peanut butter. If you call bullshit and he did lie, he would have to take the cards, but if he didn't lie, you would take the cards," Morgan explained.
"What's the point of the game?" JJ asked.
"To get rid of all your cards," Derek said.
"Can we do a practice round first?" JJ wanted to know.
"Sure," Morgan said and dealt out the cards.
"I'd like to just watch," Rossi said and sat down.
"Me too, I need to catch up on some paper work," Hotch said.

Soon the real game began. It was JJ, Reid, and Morgan playing with Sophia. Of course all of them being profilers, were good at picking out when someone lied. They all thought Sophia was going to lose instantly. However, they couldn't have been more wrong.
By the end, it was just her and Morgan left.
"Four kings," she said and put down four cards.
He eyed her closely. Sophia only had two cards left. She however looked extremely confident, so he didn't want to call it. Plus, the pile of cards in front of them was huge, so he didn't want to risk it. Derek had three cards left, and none of them were kings. He thought about it, and knew that Sophia wouldn't risk it like that. They had to have been four kings.
"One ace," he said and put down one of the cards."
"Peanut butter," Sophia blurted out.
"Dammit!" Morgan cursed and shook his head with a smile.
"I knew you lied," he told her.
"Then you should've called me out," she said back with a grin.
"Wait, what did you put down again?" she asked.
"One ace," he said confidently.
However right after he said it, she could tell he was lying. Yes it was a big risk, but Sophia wanted to call it.
"Bull," she said lowly.
"Excuse me?" Derek asked back in he same tone.
The whole team was watching intensely.
"Bullshit Morgan, you lied," she told him with a devilish smile and turned over his card to reveal it was actually a five."
"Ugh," Derek sighed and took all of the cards.
"I'd like to finish the game with two twos," she chirped happily.
Derek rummaged through his cards and realized he had all but two twos.
She won.
The twelve year old girl won a game of profiling against three FBI agents who specialize in noticing behavior.
"Shit," he said to himself.
"I believe the phrase is 'bullshit,'" Reid corrected him.
"No, I said shit, because she won," Derek said and looked over at the girl with a grin.
Sophia had a big smile on her face. She couldn't believe she outsmarted all of them.
Mostly because during the game, the all targeted each other and didn't want to call BS on her.
Either way, she won, and it felt great.
"Good job, kiddo," Rossi said and patted her on the back before returning to his seat with Hotch.
"Thanks," she said shyly.
"Maybe one day you'll think of being a profiler," Reid said.
"Well see about that. It was just a card game," Derek said playfully.
"Oh you're just mad because a little girl outsmarted you," JJ told him in the same tone.
"Yeah, he's not really good at cards. Morgan's a bit of a sore loser too," Reid said to Sophia quietly.
However, Derek heard him.
"If I remember correctly, you got out first," Morgan stated.
"Yeah, because you guys teamed up on me," Reid argued.
"Whatever," Derek said with a smile and put his headphones on for the remainder per the flight.
"Can I show you a card trick?" Reid asked excitedly.
Sophia nodded and watched as the genius worked his magic. JJ sat across from them and smiled.
She was happy Sophia was fitting in well with the team.
