January 13th rolled around and Sophia was still missing.

Emily had been staying with Rossi and that night he heard a noise and went downstairs to investigate. There sat Emily Prentiss with a large glass of wine and tears rolling down her face.
"What are you doing up?" Rossi asked as he made his way over to her.
Prentiss looked over at the clock that read 12:02.
"It's her birthday today," Emily said and took another sip of wine.
"We'll find her," Dave reassured her and took a seat next to her.
Emily gave him a half smile and shook her head.
"She's turning 14 today," she added as she looked down.
Rossi's was at a loss of words.
"You know, when she was born, I almost put her up for adoption. But then I held her and just knew I couldn't let her go. And then two years later I abandoned her at a park and now-"
"Now you're back and trying to get her back as well. Emily, you're trying your best to make things right and that's all that really matters," Dave said.
"I don't think she's ever going to forgive me," Prentiss said quietly.
"You don't know that," Rossi told her.
She scoffed, "Well, if I were her I wouldn't forgive me either."
There was a moment of silence and then Emily said,
"I wish things were normal with us. I would give anything to have kept her and had a normal mother daughter relationship. We should be talking about school and boys but instead she won't even speak to me, let alone look me in the eyes."
"All families are different," Rossi offered.
"We're not a family," Prentiss said sadly.
"JJ is her family now," she added.
"Just because JJ is in her family doesn't mean there isn't any room for you. You gave her life, Emily. That has to mean something," he said to her.
"You'd think it would matter. In her eyes, I'm just the women who made her feel unwanted and tossed her to the side," Prentiss said back. She sighed.
"I'd do anything to prove I've always loved her. Not a day went by that I didn't think of her. I mean she's my daughter. She's literally a piece of me."
"Well when we find her, I think you should tell her that," Rossi said with a smile.

It's been almost a full month since Sophia went missing. The team hadn't gotten a new lead in a while so it wasn't looking too good for them. Emily broke up with Mark because she was too overwhelmed with losing Sophia again she couldn't stand the pressure of a committed relationship.
She moved back to DC permanently and found herself an apartment. JJ and Will had to adjust to life without Sophia and so did Henry and Michael. It was like a part of their family was missing and it killed JJ that she couldn't do anything about it.

One night, after a bad case, the whole team decided to get dinner together.
That is, except for Emily.
She decided she wanted to go home and rest instead because she said she didn't feel that good.
While she was in the shower, she thought her heard a loud bang from the kitchen. She quickly rinsed off and got dressed. When she got to the kitchen area, she realized one of the big windows was open. She could've sworn it was closed before she got into the shower. Assuming the wind opened it, she reached over and closed it and then locked it. After that, she walked back into her room and got ready for bed. While she was brushing her teeth, she realized the curtain to the shower was closed completely. Again, something felt off because she thought she left it opened after showering.
Thinking nothing of it she brushed her teeth and started to comb her hair. While she was bushing her hair she was looking at he reflection in the mirror above he sink. She caught a glimpse of movement from behind her shower curtain which caused her to subtly put down her brush and grab her gun which was hidden under the sink.
She slowly made her way over to her shower and quickly pulled the curtain back only to find nothing there.
She sighed and lowered her gun.
"I swear I'm going crazy," she muttered and turned around to go back into her room. She turned off the bathroom light and walked over to her bed. She placed her gun on the bed and as she did so, she felt the presence of someone behind her. Quickly, Prentiss grabbed her gun and turned around to find a large man trying to attack her. Emily shot him twice and then she was tackled by another man. She tried to shoot him, but he knocked the gun out of her hand and then hit her over the head with something strong enough to knock her out.

Emily woke up hours later. Her head was pounding and she couldn't see straight. She heard two distinct male voices. She recognized one of them. The men walked back in the room Emily was in. She realized she was tied up in a chair by rope and she could barely move.
"Liam," she whispered.
"Where's Doyle?" he asked.
Emily was confused.
"He's dead," she spat out.
"We both know Ian isn't dead. Where is he?" Liam asked sternly.
"What do you mean Ian isn't dead?" Emily asked.
"Hey, we'll be asking the questions here, not you," the younger gentlemen said.
"Connor, it's okay," Liam said to calm the guy.
"Ian's alive, Emily. Who do you think has your daughter and Declan?" Liam pointed out.
"He can't be. I-I watched him die," Prentiss stated.
"Yeah well he thought he watched you die too, but he was wrong," Liam said to her.
"Where am I?" Emily wanted to know
"What did we say about asking question?" he asked and then smacked her across the face with his gun. Prentiss spit blood at him as he turned to walk away.
"Here I thought we could have a nice conversation, but I guess I'll have to come back later."
He started walking towards Prentiss and pulled out a knife.
"Do you mind holding my knife for me?" He asked as he drove he knife in her leg. Liam quickly covered her mouth as she let out a gut wrenching scream.

The next time Emily woke up, she felt a sharp pain in her leg. She opened her eyes to see the knife still in her leg. It was a small knife, but it hurt like hell.
"Are you ready to talk now?" Connor asked as he walked back in and pulled the knife out of her leg. She yelled out in pain and he just laughed. He walked closer to her and traced the knife over her face.
"I can't believe Ian let you out of his sight," Connor said quietly in Emily's ear. Just then, she heard a shot ring out and Connor dropped to the floor. Prentiss turned her head to see none other than Ian Doyle and two other guys rush in and save her.
"Hello, love," Ian said and it sent shivers down her spine.
"Miss me?" he asked with a smile.
"You're alive?" she asked.
"It appears two can play at that game," he told her as he cut her out of her restraints. They finished untying her quickly and one of the bigger guys picked her up bridal style and carried her out. Outside was a helicopter waiting for them. Emily realized they were in the middle of the woods somewhere. They jumped up in the helicopter and once again, Emily passed out.

This time when she woke up, she was in a car. She was in the front seat and it was just her and Ian. Doyle was on the phone with someone.
"We're about ten minutes out... Okay love you too. Bye," he said and hung up the phone.
"Who was that?" Emily asked tiredly.
"Ahhh good morning to you too," Doyle said as he turned down the dirt road towards his house.
"How are you alive?" she asked him.
"The same way you survived. Lots of medicine and good doctors."
"Where are you taking me," she wanted to know.
"Home," he said.
"If you're going to kill me, just do it already," she told him.
"How could I kill the mother of my child?" Doyle asked as he drove down their road.
Emily looked out the window.
"Ian, where are we exactly?" Prentiss wondered.
Doyle pulled up to the house. Eliza, Sophia and Declan ran out of the house to greet Emily.
"Am I dead?" she asked.
Ian chuckled.
"No," he said and put the car in park.
"The kids have been dying to see you," he added as he got out of the car.
Emily opened the car door and Ian rushed around to help her walk. Her leg was all bandaged up but it was clear she got a little beating.
"Emily," Declan called and ran over to the woman for a hug. Prentiss embraced him and her eyes wandered over to Sophia who was giving Doyle a hug.
"What took you so long? I was getting worried," Sophia said to Ian.
"I know Princess. But you know that I always promise to come home to you two," he said and kissed her on top of the head. He threw his arm around her and turned to face Emily and Declan.
"Wait, have you three been living here for the past few weeks?" Emily asked.
"I saw my kids were in danger so I brought them here. Then I thought the kids could use a mother figure and well who better than their actual mother," Doyle explained.
