Your POV
Returning to school is awkward now that I have wings. They're hidden under my shirt and jacket, so no one will see them, which makes them cramped and uncomfortable. I step outside, ready to head to school.
Screw it. I think, taking off my jacket. I pull out my key and use it to cut holes in the back of my shirt, allowing my wings to go through. I stuff my jacket in my backpack and extend my wings. Yesterday, after Notch gave me my wings, I never got a chance to test them out. Now, it's about time I got to fly.
I extend my wings, nervous about this. I've only been up in the air once, on a plane when I was pretty young. I sigh, steeling my nerves, then jump into the air. To be honest, the temperature isn't as bad as I expected. I fly up high enough to not be seen from below. I take off toward the school, holding my bagpack to my chest and smiling to myself. When I reach the school, I check the time on my phone, seeing that I got to the school way earlier that usual.
After checking for anyone who might see me, I land behind the school, by the bike racks. I put my jacket back on and head into the school. As I walk through the hall, someone shouts my name from behind me. I glance over my shoulder to see Jasmine and her two goons, Kevin and Georgia. I sigh, not wanting to deal with them right now. However, I decide to get it over with in a hallway where I can run if I need to, I don't want to be cornered later.
"What do you want?" I ask.
"Look, I don't remember much from what happened yesterday, but I woke up laying on the ground." Jasmine says. "You have any idea how embarrassing that is?!"
"No." I say. "Not that I care."
"Watch your mouth you-" Kevin begins, but Jasmine quiets him.
"You'll pay for what you did." Jasmine says, glaring at me. "I'll make sure of it."
"Yeah, whatever." I say, turning to leave. As I do, Georgia grabs me by my jacket and looks ready to kill me. When she sees everyone looking, she smiles as if we've been good friends for years.
She grabs my hand tightly, enough that I feel like my hand might break. She begins pulling me down the hall, and I struggle to get away, causing her to tighten her grip. There's no denying it, my hand is broken. She drags me into the bathroom, forcing everyone to leave. Jasmine follows soon after. Kevin stands guard outside.
"You touch me, and you're both dead!" I snap, secretly pulling out my phone, preparing to call Brian if I have to. They smile and Georgia begins circling me.
"She's mine." Jasmine says. "Don't touch her."
I growl, keeping my eyes on Jasmine. Georgia won't disobey Jasmine, she doesn't want to be a target. I'm ready to press call when Georgia snatches my phone.
"What's this?" Georgia mocks. "Brian? Do you need your boyfriend to save you? That's so cute!" She and Jasmine break into laughter, then Georgia smashes my phone on the floor. I bare my teeth in a snarl, ready for a fight. They both pull out pocket knives, and I go cold. Georgia circles me some more, then grabs me and puts her knife to my neck. I struggle and she presses harder, I feel blood run down my neck.
"Such a pretty face." Jasmine. "The only thing about you that's any good. It would be a shame if someone..." She slices me across the cheek quickly, and I hold back tears. I won't give her the satisfaction. She frowns at this and stabs knife into my leg, burying it up the the hilt. I yelp, trying to get away. They both laugh.
I don't know what comes over me or where I get the strength, but I grab Georgia's wrist and twist it. She drops her knife and cries out in pain. I throw her to the ground, then turn to Jasmine. She has her knife out in front of her, and she looks scared. I smile widely, glad to see her backing away. I'm not the one afraid for once. I feel strong, stronger than I ever have in my life. I'm not the one afraid here, she is.
