Bittersweet Heat

*Tori's POV*

  I just dropped Bella off at the airport, and having to say goodbye to my best friends will never get easier. Chris also went back to Albuquerque to get his stuff and go back to New York.

  It's a two-hour drive from the airport to my house, and the whole drive all I can think about is Jade, for some reason I feel like I have to see her right now. Yep I'm going.

 It's an extra hour but I give zero fucks honestly.

 *two and a half hours later*

 Okay that was a little faster than I calculated. This explains a lot about my grades...

 As I slow my car down, I see Beck's car and there's a new car in the old neighbor's house. Guess Jade has a new neighbor, well I'm not feeling very social, so.

 "Beck shut up! You don't know crap" 

 "Will you just listen to me!" 

 Oh boy this isn't good

 "Guys! What is going on?" I say as I get out of my car

 "Oh awesome, you're here" Jade rolled her eyes "Did you bring your girlfriend along?" wait what?

 "Jade stop! You got it all wrong!" Beck was trying but she was clearly spitting fire

 "What are you talking about?" I'm so confused

 "Oh don't act like you're stupid Vega! You know exactly what I mean"

 "No Jade, I don't! I don't because ever since I moved here you gave me crap! One minute you'd be sweet and caring, then the other you put on this mother stupid mask to act like you don't have any feelings, when actually you're just scared to try!" 

 "Let's just go inside okay?" Beck suggested calmly and we reluctantly entered Jade's house and he turned to me 

 "Listen, what happened was this: Jade saw Bella kiss you" I looked at her and she glared at me like she wanted to break my neck "But!" she looked at him "I stayed after you left, and I heard them talk about it AND recorded the whole thing" 

 "Creep much?" I said jokingly punching his arm 

 "Thank me later" he left his PearPhone and left

 We sat there in awkward silence for a few minutes

 "Look, Tori" she decided to break the ice "I've never felt like this before. I have never been in love with anyone, or anything like that" she took a deep breath "When I was young people used to look at my parents and think wow they're the most infatuated couple I've ever seen, then when I was seven, I walked in on my father and his secretary well, dealing with transactions through intercourse. I was terrified and confused, but I told my mom anyway." 

 I sat next to her and placed my hand on top of hers

 "He would beat her up almost every night after I told her... I had no idea what to do, if I dared to try anything he would simply beat me too. Then after one disgusting year of abuse and plain terror, we were all on a freeway and they were arguing for the hundredth time, and they didn't see the.. truck" I wiped the tear that was coming down her cheek and she gave me a weak smile

 "I was the only one alive... And after that I guess I just convinced myself love is just some temporary band-aid for our wounds, and when that band-aid falls off the pain consumes part of you." I looked down and tried to hold back my own tears
