Rose

I sweep the room with my eyes. It seems bare, but I'm sure someone else is here. My eyes suddenly stop at the sofa, and two ice blue eyes return my gaze. I carefully approach the couch, wanting to see who it is- and then it jumps out. I jolt back in surprise. "It's the same wolf!" I whisper to myself, noticing its striking coat now that it's exposed in the light.

It growls aggressively, all the while baring its teeth. I start to slowly back away, fear creeping quickly up my spine. "Okay, stay calm, he won't eat you... probably..." I risk a glance towards the door. Still open. I -maybe foolishly- turn my back towards the wolf and bolt out the door screaming. I run to the back of the house, hoping to wait until grandmother or grandfather get home. I don't hear it follow me.

"That was terrifying! It's almost like he understood me when I told him I was going to grandma's house! It's not like he would even know where grandma lives... right? Eh, what a strange coincidence." I try to calm myself, still gasping for a while. I start yawning and close my eyes. "Just a few minutes of shut eye... just a... few..."

Just a few.
