"Sir Link, I appreciate your affection, but you do know that I am promised to another."
-
Princess (Y/N) of Hyrule, younger sister of Princess Zelda.
Life was tough for you, very tough. You harboured feelings towards your sisters appointed knight...
Christmas in Hyrule was not taken lightly. Even months before, citizens of Hyrule are hurrying all over Castle Town in hopes of buying everything they need before it all sells out.
Watching the people of Hyrule busy themselves around the market always amused you, and brought a smile to your face. Every year, you dreamt of going into the market, but every year your father says no.
"It's too risky. I want to protect you, (Y/N)."
Leaning onto your elbow which rested on the balcony of your bedroom, you sighed. It had been getting very cold since winter had begun sneaking up on you, and sometimes the cold came suddenly.
"What are you thinking about, (Y/N)?" Said Link from behind you. Startling you, you turned around to see him in a garb entirely different to his normal Blue tunic. He was wearing very warm looking clothes, adorned with Rito feathers. His bangs were intricately tied with ribbons, some feathers sticking out from behind his ears. A shade of red dusted the tips of his Hylian ears and his nose; despite being wrapped up so warmly, the boy was still cold.
"Sorry to scare you," He laughed,"I brought you a hood. I thought you'd be quite cold."
"Thank you, Link." You said as the golden haired boy wrapped it around your shoulders.
The dress you were wearing was very similar to Zelda's dark blue one- almost identical- except yours was in (F/C). The material was very thick, making it hard to wear in the summer months, but in winter, it just didn't seem enough.
"Have you ever been to the Christmas Market, Link?"
"No, never. I've never had anybody to go with." He scratched his neck nervously.
"That's a shame, it looks like it could be quite fun. Maybe you could go with Zelda, she's been many times." Saying this brought a pang of jealousy to your heart. Zelda was allowed outside the castle walls, but you weren't.
"No, I have someone else in mind." He turned away and left, leaving you to think about who on earth he was talking about.
Christmas Eve
Surprisingly, the day before Christmas was the markets quietest day. It was still very busy, of course, but not as much as before.
Even in the late evening, you stood outside just watching. Link had given his gift to you early: a Snowquill Tunic to keep you warm. It was much like his own.

"(Y/N), do you trust me?" Link said from behind you.
"Of course I do, why wouldn't I-"
"Then follow me."
With slight hesitation, you took Link's hand. He began leading you through the many hallways and rooms of Hyrule Castle, trying not to get caught. Finally, Link had brought you to the Castle Gate, the entrance to Hyrule Castle.
Upon seeing him, the Guards let him through. They didn't seem very suspicious of you, desire wearing a hood over your entire face.
'Note to self: get Father to up the Castle's security. Or don't, I could do this more often.'
Just as you passed through the gate, the whole world blacked out, yet you were still conscious. In fear, you begged for Link to answer you.
"Link?!"
"Calm down, it's just me. I've covered your eyes; sorry for startling you."
Feeling like a fool, you went quiet. Link noticed this and chuckled to himself, leading you towards the Central Square of Castle Town.
1st Person POV
With Link's hands over my eyes, my other senses heightened. Wonderful smells invaded my nose.
"Okay, I'm going to remove my hands now."
"One..." "Two..." "Three..."
My vision was returned to me, and I was met with a most beautiful sight. Fairy Lights were strung around the Fountain, citizens were buzzing around the place, Christmas Panic settling in.
"Link...thank you. So much.." Tears began to prick my eyes, but they weren't tears of sadness. They were tears of joy.
"It's my pleasure, (Y/N). I'd do anything for you..." Link said, bringing his hand to my face to wipe away the tears.
A distant chime could be heard from the Hyrule Cathedral. It was midnight: Christmas!
Link poked my arm as I was distracted by the toll of the bell tower. Looking back at him, he was pointing upwards. Above our heads was a small bush of mistletoe.
"Link!" I exclaimed, a blush on my face. I playfully punched him on the arm and we both began to laugh.
"May I?" He said. I nodded, leaning in.
Both of our lips met. His were soft, and the kiss was short and sweet.
"Merry Christmas, (Y/N)."
