"He...he said it grieved him so to hear you were unhappy with your betrothal..." He took in a breath, and sighed,"he only wanted to see you happy as a daughter, but wanted you to fulfil your duty as a Princess. He..." The man in front of you broke down. Tears spilled from his eyes and down his cheeks, leaving a red trail in their path. His cerulean blue eyes became bloodshot and red, swollen with sadness. The glint in his eye was no longer hope or familiarity; it was sadness. He removed his hands from your face to hide his own, he was ashamed you had to see him like this.

"Link," You took one of his hands into your own,"Link, don't be ashamed of crying. It's the bravest thing a man can do...please, tell me what my Father said that has upset you so, we can overcome it, so he may rest in piece-"

"No," He cut you off,"he said to me,'I wish I could've been a better father'..."

You gasped,"No, no, no. He was good! He was the greatest...oh, Goddesses...my father died thinking he was an awful father..all because I couldn't accept my duty as a Princess?"

"Y/N, no, I'm sure he didn't-"

"You said it yourself, Link! He was in doubt...but- do you think...no." You hesitated. Already, you could feel the guilt seeping into your mind, allowing tears to cascade down your porcelain cheeks. Link quickly wiped them away. It felt familiar seeing you cry, he felt like it had happened before, but it was not the time to dwell on that. All that mattered now was you.

"It's okay, Y/N. His final wish was to see you and Zelda happy. Let's go to Zora's Domain and clear up this betrothal, hm?" Link ruffled your hair, making you let out a small laugh. He smiled back at you.

"Okay, Link. Let's do that..."
